They should never have "done away with" the Omsbudsman Office. But that was very convenient for the State. Ruben you make it sound like they are laying back on 3 dollar copays getting the same care as anyone paying their big premiums. Thats such a fallacy. Datwayler's diagnosis is a good example of laid back. Getting someone to respond in a timely manner was an issue.
Seems to me that now Datwayler has an agenda. She initially didn't think she was treated correctly. She had a mass and it was not treated seriously when it should have been. She then ended up with terminal cancer and sought legal help. Suddenly she's getting great care? She wants to get out of there sooner than later. She's playing her best cards. She is also at a minimum security prison. She is not on any sort of lockdown. I wonder why you're not covering medical care at Stillwater. To be fair and square, I don't think your editorial would have read the same way. It's sad to even have to discuss this in this way. These are human beings, not animals. |

1 If she wanted a lesser sentence for her crime than the bomber, she should have committed it in Scotland, not Minnesota. |

1 http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm... Suffolk County Sheriff Addresses Illegal Inmate Population Two hundred dollars a day. That is the estimated daily cost to house one criminal in the county jail, according to Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco. Noting that approximately 10% of the current jail population consists of illegal immigrants, DeMarco is looking at new ways to ease the financial burden that is hitting Suffolk taxpayers, who have been footing the bill for county prisoners who are here illegally. “We’re overcrowded, and we have to build a new jail, but part of the problem is that we have so many illegal immigrants here,” DeMarco said last week.“They’re taking up jail space, and it’s crushing us.” In order to address these concerns, DeMarco has put in place the Sheriff’s Criminal Alien Program, which will allow correction officers to “check the status of all new inmates” placed in the county jail system, according to a statement from DeMarco’s office. The officers also will forward the names of those with “questionable legal status” to federal authorities. The program will be supervised by the Sheriff’s Office Gang Intelligence Unit. Geez - I was told I had anal cancer stage 3b in April. I did all the treatments (radiation and chemo) Monday thru Friday and still worked almost every day - My job was building roads in Dilworth MN, I live south of Willmar and I drove every day. Oh I got fired cuz the guys said I had cancer and couldn't work - Oh and I'm still waiting for my last paycheck. Two doctors missed my tumor and one of them charged me $500 for the visit. So I can't feel sorry for this woman. She did do the crime twice and probably got better healthcare up there then done here in the outback (I live 40 miles north of Milroy). So what is it you want Rueben better healthcare for inmates seems to me they got it or an early release for someone making meth? If they make it they sell it - so how many lives were destroyed from the meth she made?
