Nichols Football

What a pitiful offense this Bison team has. They have so much talent on their bench, and they have a quarterback on the field throwing 7 interceptions in two games, and fumbling twice to boot. My guess is their old school coach leaves freshmen and sophomores on the pine that could help them on the field. They have some good sized freshmen targets, some beefy lineman, and at least one QB who was like a running back when I watched him on the web in high school. When your defense is on the field all day, you need to revamp your offense. They have a few 250+ pound linemen on the bench, and they are wasting Morris. Perhaps other alumni can band together and hold back our donations? Let's talk at the next home game!

I was watching a Bisons scrimmage this week. They have a freshman kid (#18) who was literally running OVER people. I looked him up and he was a Boston Globe All Star last year. He's riding the bench, while their QB has thrown a dozen pickoffs, and stays in the pocket. They need another runner to compliment the Morris kid. Why not a QB, who can do options from the backfield? Coaching on this team is so 1980's. I can see if this team generated great offense all year, but it has not. So, change is needed. Can Obama coach?

I'm from Longmeadow, where excellent football is a tradition. In the past ten years, we've had NO ONE rush for 100 yards on us. Last year, Snyder rushed over 100 yards on us from the QB position. No one had ever done that in our history from the QB slot. I can't believe he's not starting at Nichols. Even if they have an established upperclassman as QB, he should be a running back. Imagine the option possibilities. I see they are 3-3. So, they are doing ok. But, I'll bet they'd be better. I'd have recommended this kid myself, if a college coach had contacted me. We have a TON of good players on our team. Snyder stood out for the Knights that day last year.

That Curry game had to b the worst coached game I've ever seen. Nichols should fire their head coach and tell their QB to transfer back to Salve Regina. The kid is pitiful. Time to put in a running QB and a new offense. Puke inducing!

It is obvious the head coach has no clue offensively. Last in the league in rushing and 2 games with less than 20 yds total rushing. No real counters, options, sprintouts--the QB has a big arm but is lead footed and is incapable of running and option or sprint option. The coach refuses to change--i guess he is satisified with setting passing records (how about the 19 ints? is that a season record) and being a mediocore team or worse. Too bad for the kids on the team.

Those kids try so hard, but the coaches game plan is just horrid. The QB should be shipped back to Salve, along with his head coach. They can break tons of records THERE and continue to lose. Those kids with talent should all transfer to schools with a decent coach.

Nichols Football is DEAD if he continues!

"Too Bad Indeed" you are right on! Today, the Nichols coach called the worst game I've ever seen. And the QB, WHO PLAYED EVERY DOWN THIS SEASON, threw his 21st interception and fumbled AGAIN in the red zone. I have never seen anything so pathetic. You are correct. BOTH should be shipped out immediately. If the Nichols A.D. is reading this, she should IMMEDIATELY FIRE THE HEAD COACH!

He is obviously not worthy of a Division III team. How he has stayed in that position so long is a testiment to the poor athletic director, and/or president of Nichols College. I think that even a HALF WIT coach could have had a better than .500 record with this team! He wasted Robert Morris! He could have had one of the freshmen running QB's in the backfield, and made Morris a lot more effective--and less of a target. Just a ridiculous waste of a season.

fire the bum yet? Here's a hint for the AD at Nichols. The football team hasn't had a large group of upper classmen for years. They just bring in 35 freshmen every year. Why? Because after ONE SEASON the freshmen realize the coach is a moron and transfer, or tragically leave football altogether.

It's time the AD did the right thing and bring in a REAL HEAD COACH!

Seven members of the Nichols College football team have been named the the 2009 New England Football Conference All-Boyd Division Teams, it was announced Friday. Senior DL Bill Hassett (Oxford, Mass.), senior OL Brandt Genga (Middletown, R.I.) and senior WR Anthony Pillari (Lumberton, N.J.) all earned First Team honors, while junior DB Brandon Wallace (Windsor, Conn.), first year OL Charles Baker (Milton, Mass.), senior WR Mike Seiger (Pittsfield, Mass.) and first year K Dave Wyrick (Avon, Conn.) were named to the Second Team.

I have heard that five of the top freshmen are transferring from Nichols and SPED Coach Carven. Smart kids.

Carven is in love with Smith-Vaughn and has no idea how he will run the football next year. He lost a stud running back to graduation and couldn't run effectively with him, my prediction.....next year will be worse. Has no business coaching at college level

You hit the nail on the head. Maybe Coach "special needs" Carven and his interception machine Smith-Vaughn can pack it up together and go back to Salve-Regina. Nichols needs to start from scratch. They are going to lose some great players. That is why they seem to have a dozen or less seniors every year, and 30-35 freshmen. What a joke! Nichols A.D. should can his sorry butt. But, she won't.
