I wanted a larger more modern lecture hall for 30 years - no way; coach says he wants to practice indoors - no problem, $13 mil , that's easy. Behold the real #1 priority at UVa.

Need to pay the bills by attracting star players.$12,000 tuition doesn't cut it.

People want jobs. Construction means jobs. Nobody with a skill should be out of work in Charlottesville. If you forgot to acquire a skill, then you'll have to hump a wheelbarrow.

Don't frown...just think of it as the "incubator for future Mixed Martial Arts stars and 50-year-olds with dementia." Truth is, if we can hang around for another 30 to 40 years, football as we know it will be like the current boxing sport versus the old glory days of boxing: a fringe sport.

Another case of putting lipstick on a pig. Keep the players nice and dry, all warm and fuzzy, and we'll have a team of pansies, worse than what we already have had for the last 30 years.

New slogan: UVa -- like Penn State, but without the pedophilia.

Alabama does have an indoor practice facility

http://www.rolltide.com/facilities/hank-crisp...

It also made high $71M in revenue with low $33M in expense...
.
That's $40M in profit, that's more than 100% ROE.

Before anyone posts that I'm implying that an indoor facility will bring profits, I'm saying that state of the art facilities helps recruiting, which helps success, and success leads to profits.

UVA ranks 22nd in most profitable sports schools.

Alabama is a legendary program with previous national championships, a coaching pedigree second to none...heads above UVa. Basically, UVa is happy to expend enough resources to make the football program pretty good, but not national championship material. It makes enough money being 20th or so and going to second tier bowl games.

The wuss plaid pants and sundress wine-spritzer crowd will always spend money here. What else is there for them to do on a Saturday in the fall?
