I don't think most have a grasp on the flaws in supply side economics, especially when the economy's base (manufacturing) has by and large moved overseas. This is the number one reason I hate economic stimulus packages. They have short term effect and the bottom line is moved overseas.
Nothing drives me crazier when those that don't understand basic economics use the term class welfare. Henry Ford became one of the wealthiest men in the history of this planet and paid his employees unheard of wages... how is this so?
It is so for the reason in your previous paragraph, there was no realistic economic option to move manufacturing overseas to cheaper labor markets. It was more cost effective to fabricate the assembly line in the same country where the market to sell the cars was located. It really isn't comparable to today's economy which has an existing world-wide mechanized infrastructure of cargo ships.

Thank you Bill Clinton...

Free trade is not fair trade

On the bright side, labor costs are rising, the artificially low inflation that China has been suppressing is rising, and the cost of shipping has become so expensive that manufacturing jobs are coming back.

Here's a good read:

It's called responsibilities of being working poor... things like food, mortgage, electric, medical needs, GAS to get to and from work, the list goes on and on.

Usury laws ended in '87, so did the write off on interest.
I don't know what financing mining companies have to do with the topic.
Their option is to save.
Back when I was young if you had no credit you had a small limit and high interest. The credit companies and banks assumed the risk.
People willingly sign up for those loans, and banks willingly give them. Both are to blame. I think they should end write offs for banks that show losses on credit loans. Return risk to the creditors and banks, not the US taxpayer.

As you can tell, the roots of this problem are spread far and wide, and should also include the topics of free trade, which is not fair trade.
I doubt these kids that are protesting grasp the preponderance of the problems that they're addressing. They're simply addressing a symptom of a larger problem.
Wow, maybe you should turn on CNN or MSNBC take a look at the number of people being laid off by no fault of their own. Their kids still need to eat, they still have bills to pay, that's how people end up in these places. I can assure you if you ask anyone going in to or coming out of one of those places why they are there signing those papers and agreeing to those terms it will be to pay for viable living expenses not frivolous things.

The state could regulate the interest these places charge but they don't but they sure didn't mind jumping in to get their piece of the pie.
