If the "future" means students can bring laptops to school, why then the need for the building? Could they not learn from home? Governments large and small are always finding creative ways to spend our money. This school is a good example of that.

All adults should have just left their wallets at the front door. Thanks to the old BOS and School Board, this county will be paying for that Taj Mahal for years to come. I am glad we have a "state of the art" weight room to groom future jocks to attend college, er, trade schools.

The lecture room has chairs that slide themselves back under the table once a student stands up. No kidding!! I guess Fluvanna kids are too lazy to push in their own chairs.

Any word yet on which major corporation Fluvanna, Albemarle, and Augusta are trying to get to relocate to their counties?

Certainly is a great amount of expenditure on numerous projects--especially when residents cannot afford it.

This brand of 'economic stimulus' is like a stake throught the heart for the residents of these counties.

Both of the individuals that took the time to respond to me have blatant mistruths in their posts. If you actually attended a meeting, you would be aware that the total cost of the new high school right now is less than $60 million. Check the minutes, that's a fact!

There is nothing ostentatious about the new high school except for the fact that we actually planned for the future and won't have to build another high school for years to come. Actually, that's called foresight and is not in any way ostentatious.

I have been hearing for years about all the great stuff that was going to be in the new school! Where is the olympic size swimming pool? Where are the stàbles and the equestrian course? Where is the broadcast radio station? Where are the rugby and lacrosse fields? Dont get me wrong. It is a very nice building, with some classrooms nicely equipped with av equipment so we dont have to waste class time wheeling in a cart and hooking all the equipment up, but it is a far cry from the monster luxury school I have heard people complain about for 4 years. I guess a lot of the people complainig were just lying and making stuff up to stop having to pay taxes. You know, one of the hardest things about growing up is finding out just how many adults lie to get what they want.

You are just a stupid kid, what do you know? The school is filled with uneeded luxuries, and never needed to be built in the first place! Less that half of the classrooms are going to be occupied anyway, so it is time to cut the school system budget and eliminate all the spending on teachers that will sit in empty rooms!

I knew they wasted millions and millions on a high school that was never needed, but come on! That place has luxuries that UVA does not have! There is a 1500 seat movie theatre! There isn't even a theatre in Fluvanna! Why send kids to school to watch movies? There is an NBA sized gym! There is a football field to rival Scott Staduim! If they called it Fluvanna University and charged $15,000 tuition, it would still be too luxurious to ever make money and would still be a burden on Fluvanna taxpayers fot the next 60 years!

Collossal criminal waste and the shame of Fluvanna!

Actually, the school is a wonderful asset to Fluvanna, who should give thanks to Shaun Kenney for getting the building done. Sadly, thanks to the unreasonable demands of the teachers, the building was 5 times the cost it should have been. It is the overpaid teachers bankrupting Fluvanna, not the wonderful school Kenney provided.

Kenney wanted to build a beautiful new school for a reasonable $14 million but expensive waste like this that liberal BOS members pushed through drove costs over $100 million!

That school could have been built for less than $10 million if they didnt waste money on stupid wants like gyms and stuff. Didn't Fluvanna already have two gyms?

RIP to the teacher crushed by the light that fell this weekend. I hope that they are sensible and hold off opening the school to students until they actually make sure the school is safe! What a collosal waste!

Not knowing all the details but I'd be willing to bet this school was being planned, designed and its mens of being funded, long before Obama took office, fool.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Pisces

You're raring to go today, especially on domestic projects. You'll achieve a tremendous amount if you're allowed to proceed at your own pace and in your own time, but you'll soon get ratty if you suspect someone is breathing down your neck or trying to tell you what to do. You'll also feel irritated with people you know really well, so be prepared for a few fireworks.
