Sad to see so many lose their jobs when alot of this couls have been avoided a few years back.
I use to work in the Purchasing Department a few years back and saw to many "good ole boy" deals going on it made me sick! I went out for a quote (RFQ)on a product X and was told"We olny deal with this company" I asked why, and they said just cut the PO# This was a very expensive item and The other quotes were much lower. I saw so much of this going on I knew it wasn't right."Well Mrs X husban works here and thats why we use them as a vendor. I said they are taking advantage of us here is a quote on X and its 30% cheaper. After doing this a few more times and trying to save money I was let go.Pay off's and greed was the way to be a vendor here.I now work for a company that watches every peeny they spend and we don't even allow a vendor to bring us in donuts. Hey, You Mr. X at Spartan how is your new John Deer Mower runnig? Hope you and all the others feel sick and I sure hope Sztykiel takes a good hard look at the bottom dollor and gets rid of the 3 Mr. & Mrs.X X X's that control the whole plant on whom can do bussiness with Spartan.

Wish all you who were victimes of a spending orgy the best. God Bless
Philip

I worked at Spartan for almost eight years and was told there needed to be some cutbacks in personnel. The company held a plant wide meeting informing everyone that all temp employees would lose there jobs at the end of march. That day all temps kept there jobs and about 60 Full timers were called to the office and fired.I was given a choice to sign a separation agreement or not receive any severants pay.Bottom line I would be sued by spartan for telling what goes on and at that point, decided to take the money and run...Anyone looking for a job beware of being fired for not kissing butt to bosses or line leaders...
Does it matter

Spartan Motors has never had the best interest of Charlotte in mind. Even when donating otherwise worthless land to the city to build a new fire station they got tax abatements and the "look the other way" mentality that the people who run charlotte all the way from beach street are able to operate with.

A few years back I attempted to get a job there, and I was turned down because Karen Getzweiler did not like my younger sister who had worked there through co-op. Upon going into the interview I was told they want people who are not too experienced so they can not only pay them shit, but so they can treat them like shit as well.

So now we have a company that lost basically all of its military contracts with the bush administration stepping down, you would think all this time in order to work on these vehicles one would need a security clearance or at least a back ground check, however that is not the case.

The employment group was the prime company sending people up there to work, now that it has been torn down so we can have a new block of bricks on the corner where it once basically stood, I am not sure who is the new people fucking over the poor by paying them 8.00 an hour to do 15.00 an hour work. The fact that spartan motors does not really even do any of their own hiring should be a wake up call for the community that this company does not give a flying fuck about you.

The company lost all merit when Gaedart left however many years ago. All I can say to anyone who works there or has lost their job, is "what did you expect?" And to the people who have been working there since highschool, consider yourself lucky you even have a job, if some of the folks working up there are any cross section of how intelligent you have to be to operate a impact wrench...you would be fucked without spartan.
Thank You All

I was researching purchasing job opportunities at Spartan when I ran into these comments here. Now I am running away as fast as I can. I won't touch them with a ten foot pole even in this tight job market.

I agree with pretty much everything in this post. I worked there for almost 3 years, and was basically low man on the totem pole. Got treated like shit, constant hostile work environment. I got let go from there, and it was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I now have a job that is the polar opposite of Spartan, and I do maybe 1/4th of what I did there, and somehow still get double the pay.

If you want to see what Hell on Earth would be like, then apply for a job at Spartan.
