When Merle Haggard played a benefit for tornado victims up in the hills a few mouths ago around 12 scrap bands advertised they were opening for Merle at this benifit, but a matter of fact no one opened. Merle came on stage at his set time, did his show and BOOM!! that was it. These bands lie to promote themselves. Further Down Band was the worst band in Arkansas to lie about opening for National acts. Most celebrity acts have what you call front bands who travel with them to promote for a slice of their future progress or to keep from having to pay more for the other options. Some times the celebrities' bands open for their main act. Very often these bands travel alone but they cannot consider the bands that play just ahead of them their front bands or opening acts for legel purposes because they can be sued for a cut of their pay. Believe me all othes bands that advertise that they opened for a band only played on the same stage earlier in the night or day.
