I would like to bring to your attention a serious matter that is affecting me and my fellow neighbors. Recently I became a resident of Charlestown, IN, from New Albany, IN. I was thrilled to become part of the community, and happy to be out of the city for a change! That was until I found out that one of the most important things in my life would be no more. I’m speaking of high speed internet. This might not seem as important to some people, but me I depend on the internet for a lot of things. I recently started college and also taking one online class, so I don’t have to be away from my 8 month old son so much. I also am majoring in Computer Information Technology, so I use the internet for a lot of research; I sell things on eBay and Craigslist for extra money. Most of these privileges have been stripped away from me! All because I live .6 that’s .6 miles away from the nearest cable connection, according to Insight Communications. I can stand in my street and see a house that has high speed internet! Now good ol Insight came out and took a look at our block, and pretty much told us we were “SOL”. That to run .6 miles of cable would cost them over “$11,000”, and it just wouldn’t be economical. With the prices they are charging these days why not gain a few customers for life, it may take a while to make a profit, but it’s all about making the consumer happy, or so I thought. I thought it might be worth a shot to send you this info and see if maybe you can get the word out that we need that service out here, high speed internet is very important to a lot of people. I don’t want to have to move, but if worse comes to worse I will. tell Insight the people of Rocket Plant Road matter, just because we do not have more than 20 house on our block, we are still part of the community.
