Leave it shut down How do we know for sure it will create 471 jobs? We don't know for sure. How do we know these employees will even come from our area. That place is known for hiring out of towners scabs. Leave us poor people alone we're paying enough now for electric.

The plant isn't reopening. There's no such thing as guaranteed profit in business. Century made that proposal knowing it would be rejected. They are done with union idiots, Constellium is done with union idiots and after they destroyed our community, Ravenswood is done with the union idiots.

so let me see.. if you do not work there you could be paying 3 to 5 bucks a month more on your electric at home to help turn their lights on??? And I hear they are going to get a raise when the contract goes through too?? we paying for electric or raises? take that raise and support your own buisness.. If your company can't afford the electric the railroad goes by there load the 1950's outdated place up for scrap... Oh and help the community there are no businesses in this town if you do get a new one whiny asses try to shut it down... spoiled, waiting for a handout bunch of people.

When Century Aluminum was talking of re-opening, they said the only way they could re-open was to get a special lower rate from Appalachian Power Company for their electricity. APCO denied this request and now they want to shift the burden of the costs for electricity for this plant on those of us who cannot afford it and those of us who do not even live in Jackson County. Why not raise the price of electricity on the residents of Jackson County and leave the rest of us alone?? This is the craziest thing I've ever heard. Why didn't the Public Service Commission order APCO to lower their rates for this plant instead of trying to gouge all of us with this? Just doesn't make any sense at all to me.

If they can't afford to pay their own electric bill then they don't need to reopen.

Didn't individual consumers take a rate hike when Century went idle in 2009? When AEP no longer got Century's $9-12 million a month AEP passed on their costs to us.

Does it seem the Public Svc. Commission serves the public or AEP? Does everyone know what the CEO of AEP got last year? Take a guess....

AEP's rate structure is skewed by the PSC!!! AEP should have been forced to reduce their own costs rather that pass on a rate increase to individual consumers just because Century was not operating. AEP wants to screw individual consumers either way and the PSC let's them. How does that serve the Public???

I'm sorry to say.but i can;t see giving you 3-5 dollars a month for to open and run the plant that will only give jobs to you.It will not help me or any other West Virginian.Jobs are tough everywhere, including where I live in W,V. I lost my job due to a plant shut down I didn't see A.E.P.give us a special rate,to reopen I lost my retirement, health benifits just like you,and I didn't see any one else bail us out,not even the union could save our jobs. All I can say is suck it up like we had to and go up,jobs are lost everyday in this country,so why should be any better. I'm sure if we voted on it the only winning votes would come from your city. I'm not trying to be hateful, just truthful

I think AEP is crooked, however, I think it is complete bull____ to charge me extra money a month so a business can operate. It sounds to me like Century is playing a game to make more money so they can turn right around and shut down after a few months. The same thing happened with the huge government bailout with Solyndra. Billions of dollars wasted for what???? A fake company who passed the millions to "investors" or "politicians" and then went bankrupt mysteriously. It always comes back to the middle man. We are the ones who take it up the rears everytime. I am tired of it.

AEP are the biggest crook`s .They raised the rates and making more money and producing less Electric.Fact. Over 3 millino effected with rate hike. At no less than 10 dollar`s since 2009 Time`s that 10 buck`s with the 3 million and that is what AEP made since 2009 just on rate hike.Give or take couple hundred thousand. And you people think the plant people make to much money. AEP men start out at $34.50 per hour.So tell me now how it`s the UNION`S fault our bill is higher?

Sounds like AEP just wants another rate hike. The PSC should roll back the last rate hike if/when Century reopens!!!!!
