at least she realizes she made a mistake. but where was her head at on this issue? EVERYONE knows you don't leave your kids in a car ALONE. it doesn't matter what the weather is like or if you live in a small town. the world is an unforgiving enviorment. next time get your tan without your kids!

Who cares if you were or were not breaking the law. You don't leave your kids in the car unattended for any length of time for any reason, and to get a tan is just stupid.I hope the tan was worth it!. Then people wonder why their child got kidnapped it only takes a few seconds for your child to be gone.

how can a mother put a tanning visit ahead of her child especially leaving it in the car she could have taken it in with her and let it sleep while she was getting her tan.some people just don't use common sense.you don't leave children in a car. how would you feel if you woke up and no one was there scared.parents are supposed to protect their children from harm.but some puts their self first which is wrong.i am a mother & grandmother. anyone that has children should be very careful and see that something like things you hear happen with children they are the innocent but usually the one that gets hurt.something like this makes you mad. i will stop now.there is a lot more that could be said.

It doesn't matter how old your child is. In this day and age people are crazy and you just don't leave them unattended. I couldn't imagine leaving my 5 1/2 month old sleeping in my car, no matter her age. I am glad she realizes now but she's very lucky the situation didn't have a different ending.

IT'S MORONS LIKE THIS THAT PERPETUATE THE IMPRESSION THAT SOUTHERNS ARE DUMB. WAKE UP LADY, YOU WOULDN'T THINK OF LEAVING YOUR PURSE ON THE FRONT SEAT OF YOUR CAR. I HOPE YOU GET TIME, EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD BE DISRUPTIVE TO YOUR CHILD.

The sad thing is the child will be given back to this woman. She is aware of the deaths of children left in cars by irresponsible people and she chose to do it anyway. There is no excuse for her actions. The child is the victim and thank God the baby is alright. "I did not know it was a crime and it was not hot outside", give me a break. Idiot.

How could she not know she was breaking the law? You see way too much of this on TV everyday. She doesn't deserve to have her child back if she's willing to be so irresponsible. I'm a mother of two and I take my kids in with me everywhere. She could have easily taken her inside and let her sit in the room while she tanned.

that is crazy....she doesnt need the child back. she should have taken the child to a babysitter or daycare if she felt she needed to tan at that moment. what if she goes back to tan, is the child going to go into the tanning booth with her.......then the child risk the chance of having damage done to her eyes....they make you wear goggles for a reason!!!!!!!! she really needs to get her stuff together!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this woman at least learned a valuable lesson and will never leave her child alone in the car again. Unfortunately, some people do not care, not even about their own children. My own sister-in-law left her three children, ages 7,3,and 2, in the car last SUMMER, while she went in for her DHS appointment. Her seven year old son got tired of waiting and went inside to ask for her. The workers went out and brought the other two children in. They didn't even do anything to her. I could not believe they just let her get away with leaving them out there. She wouldn't hesitate to do it again. When she told me about it she was just annoyed that her son got out of the car.

as i read this story i just couldn't imagine any mother being so irresponsible. she does need parenting classes, in my opinion, but i do think she honestly made a serious mistake, and she should get one more chance.

That poor little girl! She is too young to realize WHY she's with strangers. My heart aches for her. Her mother is a total fool!

I'm curious what law is this mother breaking? She went out and checked on her daughter who was asleep and the car was locked. Everyone needs to stop over reacting!!!! How is the little girl going to be kidnapped? Do you really expect someone to break the window and get the child out of the car and carseat without anyone around noticing. If someone is going to kidnap a child they are not going to go through all that trouble. Get Real People!!!

I've only been a mother for 5 1/2 months and know better than this. You say the door was locked. The child could get up wondering where her mother is and unlock it. I wouldn't let my child wake up in a strange place not knowing where I am at. My daughter is my life and I would never put her in that situation.
