You cannot trust the state to protect your kid in daycare, bottom line! I learned this recently after trying out a daycare that has no buisness being open. I talked to several people with the state about the poorly ran daycare and it's insane owner/director. They pretty much told me nothing could be done....

You know i have a 2 year old that i thought of putting in daycare, and it'ssad to say that stories like this one have stopped me alltogether from putting my little girl in any daycare. I can say this if that was my little girl i would sit in jail the rest of my life but they would never see that day care lady again thats for damn sure

I was an Assistant Director of a preschool here in Nashville and went into the infant room to offer help to the caregivers. There was one baby, about 5mo old, who was sleepy and crying. As I bent down to hold him, the caregiver pressed his head into the mattress face down and shouted, "Be Quiet!" I pushed her away, grabbed him, and rocked him to sleep. When I went to the director, my story fell on deaf ears. I contacted DHS. I received a letter telling me that there was not enough evidence to conduct an investigation.

it's really sad that the justice system is ass backwards and protects the wrong people. and then people wonder why we dont beleave in our system anymore.

Well, I'll get flamed for this one, but here goes:
WHY IS THE NEED PRESENT FOR SO MANY DAYCARES TO BEGIN WITH? Well, I will tell you why. There was a time that mothers stayed home with their kids. Being a woman (and stay at home mom)...I believe in all the women liberation issues. I believe a woman can do anything a man can do, should be paid the same for the job, and should be equally respected...no problem. I also know there are many single mothers (and some fathers)out there who HAVE to work to supply the most basic need to their children...to those people, my hats off to you! You are making a sacrifice and I applaud you...Now, let's talk about a majority of our working mothers: They work so there are two major sources of income coming into the home. They need two incomes to support the nice house & nice car they want to drive. GIVE UP YOUR LUXURIES AND STAY HOME WITH YOUR CHILDREN...THIS MESSAGE GOES TO FATHERS AS WELL...IF A WIFE HAD A GOOD PAYING CAREER, LET DAD STAY HOME. Anyone familiar with the meterologist on Channel 2, Lisa Patton? Her husband stays home with their kids (they have 4 or 5 of them). They are GREAT kids and they don't rely on schools or daycares to raise their children. We expect schools & daycares to raise our children...if you dont like that statement, take a good look in the mirror. If you child is in someone else's care for more than 10 hours a day, you are expecting (sugar coat it and call it whatever you want) someone else to raise your child. I worked in a daycare before having children (just a few years ago). This daycare closed at 6pm...We actually had people pull their kids out and take them to another daycare because other daycares were open until 6:30 or 7:00...good grief! Again, there are those that have no choice...but if you excuse is "I can't pay my $1700 mortgage payment without two jobs...get rid of your 3000 sq. ft. house, but a 1200 sq. ft. house, get a $800 mortgage payment, and stay home with your kids. I know a family not too far form where I live that have 6 kids and they live in a 1500 sq. ft. home with 3 bedrooms. Mom satyed home with all these kids and not that all of them are in middle & high school, she now teaches part time in anticipation of college expenses...but her occupation does not require a babysitter for her kids. They make it work and are a wonderful, loving family. Sorry to get on my soapbox, but I am tired of hearing from people who want to complain about schools & daycares...ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR MULTIPLE DAYCARES BY STAYING HOME WITH YOUR KIDS...this way, the number of daycares will dwindle and those single parents who must work to supply basic needs will have quality daycares to take their kids to because the state will then be able to manage the oversight of childcare in Tennessee because there aren't a million of them out there anymore. |

It is a shame that this person has gotten away with this and nothing was done by DCS as far as shutting her completely down, but yet just on the news last night a DCS worker in Montgomery County was arrested for not reporting the sex abuse of a child. Had this woman been sexually abusing little ANNA, you think that something would have been done....probably, but instead little ANNA had her life taken away, and this woman who is considered an employee with the State (DCS) walks around free as a bird!!!! The system sucks!!

I hope this daycare provider rots in jail for the rest of her life.If it were my child she wouldn't see the light of day ever again.God bless these parents and pray for them. I just couldn't imagine, just reading this I cried.s
As far as Jordan's comment: I wish I coud stay at home with my daughter. My boyfriend works nights and I work days to keep her out of daycare. Things are so expensive now I don't know many who can afford only one income without a college degree. I'm sure people don't work for extra luxuries but to pay bills. Everything is going up except wages. |

This story literally brings tears to my eyes. If I ever have children, I don't think I could ever trust them in the hands of a "liscensed" day care, because obviously any negligent person can be liscened.
And another thought: How can prosecutors not want to charge this monster of a woman? Do they have children? Can they not fathom the pain that this woman has put this family and their child through? I just can't believe that some people in the world just don't see that this woman NEEDS to be brought to justice. Of course, it will never be justice for Anna's family, but maybe it will let them sleep knowing that their daughter's murderer will never harm another child again. |

This woman is getting away with murder! They put drug dealers in jail for life... Here she neglected a child which resulted in death. She should be found guilty of murder, and get death. I am sorry I dont think there is justice in this world!! ESP not for kids!!!!!!!!!! Something needs to be done!!!!

Chas, I applaud you for doing what you can for your family; however, sadly, it is true that MANY people work for the luxuries. Now, as I pointed out before, some don't. Some do it because it makes the difference in eating or not. Some literally have no other choice...but way too many do it because they want that extra 1,000 square feet...they want that nice vehicle to drive, they want to wear only the best clothes, they want to look good for the Jones'. So forth and so on...no arguement intended, but millions do this. |

The Mancuso's deserve to know EXACTLY what Sherry Cruise was doing when their only child died in Cruise's "daycare". Cruise has never taken any responsibility for her actions that I am aware of or even explained why Baby Anna was already cold to the touch despite paramedics being there within minutes. Those of you who are interested in this story should try to find the many articles in the local Clarksville, TN newspaper (theleafchronicle.com). Both Cruise and the Mancuso's have statements there.

Jordan, you are so right, could'nt have said it better myself. This is why I have NEVER put my toddler in daycare. I will live in a barn and eat manure sandwiches if I have to - well I have'nt had to do THAT, but my car is 11 years old, I rarely go shopping for new clothes, and I am HAPPY and my daughter is SAFE!! I don't want a stranger raising her, especially a uncaring old hag like that woman at that Clarksville daycare.
Did you hear about the daycare where the employees were filming porn movies right there in the building after hours? I don't think people realize who they're leaving their children with all day - |

I would be suing the shit out of Sherry Cruise and DHS if I found my baby in a dark room in the back of the B*** house. But first they would have taken me to jail, because I would have beat her to a pulp, I can't believe that when Ms.Merony showed them pictures to DHS that there was their proof right there, why didn't they do something, there is your state money at work, sitting on their butts!!!!!!!!!!

In part, I want to agree with you (minus the violent acts); however, I have to ask myself "Is there more to this story?" I don'tknow if there is or there isn't...but when you hear something and you are completely rattled and think "I can' believe thwy did that" or "Icant believe they didn't do anything about it." and etc. I have to think "I am not hearing the whole story." |
|
Yes, this is our world today.:) Good for you driving an 11 year old car! I bet it's great.:) |
