How can they be proactive monitoring the streets when they have all those "empty" cars sitting along the streets throughout the city being scarecrows?

I guess that's why the SH cops are so anal about the speed limits. They're hoping to catch a REAL criminal when they pull someone over for going 25mph in a 20mph zone. I mean you know how felons like to roll through them stop signs.

1 On the flip-side, 2 of my sons classmates, both age 14, were arrested last week for breaking into a home in Cameron Farms that was for sale. Both of these boys are known troublemakers, the parents are essentially absentee, and both boys have gotten away with vandalizing property and bullying other children in the past. If crime is going up, blame the parents. Parents who are both out working until 8 or 9PM everynight, while their children run wild and unsupervised, so the parents can have their 3000 square foot house and new cars in the driveway. I have an ivy league B.A. degree, but have chosen to put off working full-time, until all of my children enter college. We live in a smaller home in Spring Hill and drive used cars and shop at Marshall's, Aldi and Goodwill. And my children are good students, well-dressed, well-adjusted people who stay out of trouble BECAUSE I AM HOME KEEPING AN EYE ON MY OFFSPRING. And don't get me started on how RUDE these transplanted children are: words absent from their vocabulary include please, thank you, yes ma'am, no ma'am. Most answer questions with grunts and Neanderthal-type gestures. Thankfully, my children's friends are mostly Southern born and raised . |

1 There are plenty of rude, misbehaved children and adults in today's world and you can't slice them by where they were raised. How they were raised, yes. To your point of absentee parents, I agree that it is an issue and lots of the delinquency issues are based in a lack of parental guidance. There are an equal percentage of Southern hoodlums. Oh, by the way, teen pregnancy is a much bigger issue in the south and always has been. How do you explain that? |

1 You are correct, Flipside, being rude does not make one a criminal. And there are plenty of rude people everywhere. I have traveled all over the states and in Europe, and Miami has about about the rudest people I have ever encountered. But the weather is so nice, I can overlook it:) However, in the social circle that I come from (and we are not wealthy), we were taught from a young age to respect our elders and authority figures, to hold doors open for each other, to have table manners and to just be pleasant and polite to your fellow man. I just do not see these types of manners in many of the children my kids have introduced me to who are northern transplants-Sorry, but it is the truth! I always try to engage my children's friends in conversation when I see them, and the ones from the North are rude. Like I said, they grunt and gesture in response to my questions and their parents usually communicate in the same fashion only much louder. My children's friends who are from the South are much more polite and respectful and for the most part, have been better behaved throughout the years than their Northern counterparts. I know I must sound a bit like a bigot and I am not that way at all, really. I have friends from all over the U.S. I just know after being a mother for over 20 years that if parents are paying attention to their children (including teenagers), their children's friends, their children's education (which is why we stay in Williamson Cty)and teach their children how to behave in this world, then there will be a better outcome the majority of the time. |

Welcome to the USA home of the illegals. Most are coming to Texas because they know they can mix here in the Dallas & Houston areas.
