It is a persons choice where they work and you have to apply for a job in order to be hired. If anyone wishes to work at Rex's, then they will have to put an application in just like any other place of business. I think this little community needs to appreciate the fact that they do have such a nice store to shop at rather than having to drive so far away to another store. It's convenient for us all! You are absolutely correct. I certainly appreciate the convience of Rex's Foodland. I shope there for 95% of all my groceries. I appreciate it because I remember CH before A&M Cee Bee (aka Moorehead's) when a trip to Lewisburg was neccessary for anything other than staples.

I went to return an item today that my husband had lost the receipt to. Instead of being politely told that there are no returns without a receipt, the manager purposely had me wait as she went to get a box of the cereal I was trying to return. She came back and said since my box had expired already, which I had not noticed earlier, she did not think I bought it there. I asked why they would put expired food on the shelves, again her answer was that she did not believe I bought it at the store! Like it is impossible that an expired box could get mixed in. Not to mention that MANY times before has there been expired food on the shelves, especially when there is a sale on an item. When I suggested she scan the box so that it would come up as a Foodland item to prove I bought it there, she refused. Instead, she treated me like a common criminal trying to get something for free. Mind you this was done in front on NUMEROUS customers. She would not even give me a fresh box! Kroger has NO problem at least replacing expired items, even WITHOUT a receipt! I used to tolerate the extremely SLOW cashiers, VERY poor customer service, and the expired food, but now I will NEVER go back there again! They lost a local customer due to their lack of basic common decency skills! I wish this town would get some REAL stores!

there is one cashier who is unusually rude and mean. she has short red hair. i don't know why they keep people like that. maybe the management treats them terrible and that is why they are so rude. i would not shop there either if i had other choices close to home. they seem to own this town.

The always have expired food on the shelves and the freezer and on some hot dog packages. I have personally brought this to thier attention MANY times and they act surprised, apologize, and replace it for me. The the next time I am in the store the samed expired items are still there. The prices are already high because of location and the law of supply and demand - the least I expect from them if they want to charge the outrageous prices that they do is for the food to be fresh and not expired.

Not a bad store at all, I shop there once in a while.
I wish they'd bring the meat trucks back. I used to fill my freezers when he'd bring them into town.
I don't he's had them here since he moved to the new location.

I moved here recently from a big town up north. I was more than pleased to find Rex's on one of my excursions out to find my way around town. I found the store to be well laid out and the staff to be inviting and knowlegeable to my needs and questions. I enjoy the fact that there are younger and older people both working there. As far as prices go, the store is competitive with Kroger (and other larger chain stores) and I don't have to drive 20 miles to get there. I as well take care to shop with my coupons, use the stamps offered (for free or low cost items) and watch the sale ads. For my family the cost concern is handled more importantly with how I shop. My family also chose to move here...opting for small town charm and hospitality over the crowded big city for many reasons. Rex's Foodland has been yet another pleasant discovery along the way, and we will continue to patronize this store greatfully for years to come. As with anything in life, attitude and approach determine the outcome of any experience. I for one am very greatful to have such a nice, clean and safe place to do my shopping close to home.

I have known Rex since he bought the store from Mr. Wilburn along time ago. He is a nice man and runs a good business. Though since he moved to the new store there seems to be a slack in southern hospitality. Maybe its because there is so many young kids working there..i dont know. Anyone feel that way? Not trying to knock it but I guess new, big stores may also create new, big attitudes.

I used to have my groceries taken to my car at the old location, but at the new location it's never happened once. I really don't need the help, but it was nice for them to do it and I always tipped the kids $3 to $5 depending on how much I bought.

I used to ask where something was located in the store and the kid would walk you over to where the item was, now they just point in the general direction and send you on your way. I hope the owner is aware of these comments everyone is making and takes note.

I have to agree that the meat at Rex's is the best and the store is kept very clean. The food in the deli doesn't look that appealing. As far as the clerks go they are nice if you talk to them they talk.A relative of mine worked there and it was the owner Rex that is hard to get along with but Chris the owner's son is very nice. The mother daughter team you mentioned. The mother either works at or use to work at the H& S drugstore in CHapel Hill.
