Business owner says illegal immigration costing local jobs

Ron Wetzler has had enough. The owner of Olympic Drywall and Texturing in Rowan County says he's losing out on jobs awarded instead to subcontractors who employ illegal immigrants, mostly Mexicans.

I'd have had enough too, long ago. If he knows other businesses with the same problem, I'd suggest pooling your funds and hire a reputable P.I. It's amazing what they can do and who they know. Bi-lingual PI for certain!

That's a very interesting idea NE Red.

I know we have had boom in the housing market here,and alot of the subcontractors hire the Hispanics who work cheap.The problem with that is the work is often inferior, and most people buying houses done by them are very unhappy when things start to fall apart.

My brother in-law was in the foundation business for some thirty years has been driven out of business. People who hire these illegals or even the ones legally in the country that work dirt cheap should be ashamed of themselves for putting their fellow country men out of business for the almighty dollar.

I had 3 folks bid on painting the exterior of my house. One for $5200 and I don't ask about his employees, one was for $5600 and don't ask about his workers, and the 3rd was for $6200 and he used to do new construction only, but was put out of business by the Beaners. I choose the 3rd because he pointed out he only hired Americans, and mostly high-school drop-outs. They did a great job and I feel much better about hiring them, even at a higher cost.

Every employer who hires illegal aliens should:

1) lose their citizen and
2)(see below)
