On March 22nd of this year we lost our son, brother, colleague, neighbor, friend and Turner, Michael R. Breunig. After a thirteen month courageous battle Mike age 45, died of incurable brain cancer. Mike leaves behind his wife of nearly 21 years, Michelle and two sons, Jakob 17 and Jeffrey 14.
One of our promises to Mike was to help him fulfill his and every parent’s dream of having the ability to allow his two sons the opportunity to further their education. Family meant everything to Mike and providing for his boys future was paramount to him. Although with Mikes passing he will not be able to witness this himself, with a little help from his family and friends, we can all see Mike’s dream come true. Jakob is entering his senior year at Minooka Community High School and Jeffrey is entering his freshman year. As both of these boys deal with the loss of their father at a very young age, we felt it was very important to inspire them to further their education and help provide some resources that will allow them to do that. A trust has been established specifically for the future education expenses of both Jake and Jeff. A benefit has been organized for November 14th, the day after Mike’s birthday, in order to raise funds for the trust. The evening will include live music, food, raffles, auctions and a celebration of Mike’s life. We welcome you to come out and join us. The Michael R. Breunig Family Education Trust Benefit will be held on November 14th, 2009 at CD & ME, http://cdandme.com/ located at 23320 S. La Grange Road, from 5:00pm to 11:00pm located in Frankfort, Illinois. Tickets are being sold for $ 25.00 each before November 14th and $30.00 at the door the night of the benefit, many friends and relatives are expected to attend. We would be most grateful for your support. All of the proceeds from these efforts will go directly to The Michael R. Breunig Family Education Trust. http://themichaelrbreunigfamilyeducationtrust... |

I too am a widow with 2 young boys. My kids are 10 & 7 and we have been on our own for the last 4 years. As much as I sympathize with this family, I don't understand why people hold their hand out when tragedy strikes. My husband died at 43 with no life insurance. I had a garage sale, let the house go into foreclosure, filed bankruptcy, and moved on. We are doing fine. We did not have fundraisers or donations to help us through the rough patch nor do my kids have their hands out for an education. They will go to college and apply for grants or whatever financial aid is available at that time. All I'm saying is....why must everyone have their hand out?

i agree! sorry, but i have a friend who recently suffered a harship as well, never once did she hold her hand out for donations. sorry, but every family is struck with some kind of tragedy.. we all get through it without handouts.. sorry not trying to be mean but do sympathize with you, but your right kids will go to college with grants, financial add etc

I understand your points, but for the record, Mrs. Breunig has not asked for a dime from anyone. Although she’s extremely grateful, she has nothing to do with the organization of this benefit, so if you cant be respectful and keep your comments to yourself, please direct your criticism and passing of judgment upon her friends, not her.

Maybe I picked the wrong story to make my comment about but I do not take back the sentiment. I actually think it's great that friends, neighbors, co-workers, colleagues, and others WANT to help people in their time of need. This person may not have her hand out but MANY do and it's with those that I take issue. It would be rude to not accept the help offered in a case like this. It is much more offensive to not help yourself and always have your hand out as very many do.
