1 here is a posting from the Hearld new Friday the 13th: in the pulse section after the morning star article... Also on the radio ... U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson , D-Crete, has been the subject of much discussion this week on the Don Wade & Roma show on WLS-AM after an interview in which the congresswoman was pressed on the possibility of jail time for folks who don't buy health insurance if the current version of health care reform legislation becomes law. Halvorson spokesman Ryan Vanderbilt said the office has "gotten a few calls" since the interview. But, he said, "The talk about jail time is a gross exaggeration. This is like the talk about death panels." Vanderbilt acknowledged that a person could be jailed under the legislation but said it's not likely. It's more of a civil matter, he said, like not paying your income taxes: "They try to settle with you." So your people.. who just love Halverson who is afraid of FACING the voters and hide behind the telephone and telepromtor.. Bite me!!! She got national attention.. being on WLS she doesnt care about anyone but herself.. So go back and help Ole Debbie to pack her bags in washington.. because the voters is going throw debbie to the curb |

1 November 16, 2009 Use common sense It was disheartening to read that our congressional representative, Debbie Halvorson, has now indicated that she will support the current House Health Care Bill. Her support for this bill is another disappointing stance in her short congressional career. With Halvorson's earlier support for cap and trade, it appears that she is bent on supporting legislation that has a profoundly negative impact on every one of her constituents. The key words are every one. These two pieces of legislation have the capacity to pull an additional 15 percent to 20 percent out of the average person's income. Cap and trade alone is estimated, on the conservative side, to add an extra $1,700 to $2,000 worth of cost to the average family. This will be done without having any impact on the emissions that it purports to cap. To have an impact, all countries have to play along, such as China, India and Russia, and they are not. So, while our energy costs and all costs associated with energy consumption will skyrocket, our economy will be "decimated," as Nobel Prize winner Steve Running said about climate change. We the average taxpayer will be left holding the bag and making decisions about how to afford basic necessities. Health care, on the other hand, is a 2,000 page monstrosity of mish-mash that has been labeled the worst piece of New Deal legislation ever, according to The Wall Street Journal. We deserve a representative that will stand with common sense, not promote partisanship, and demand that the average citizen not be asked to tote burdens that are heaved upon them by representatives who only see the company line. Dwayne Mentgen Joliet sooo start packing debbie... |
