We are having to relocate our family to the area due to job transfer from the Chicago NW suburbs and inquired elsewhere about the public schools in Champaign. Not one person told me we should put our three small children, 5, 7, 11 in the Champaign public schools. I'm really frustrated and a realtor is downplaying what others have said, although their children attend private school. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

you can see my other post, but I'll give you a bit of info.

Some schools are good, some are not.

The best, Bottenfield, Barkstall, Judah Christian is private, but open to anyone I think. Barkstall requires uniforms. There are other schools that are good, but these would be my top two choices.

The bad, garden hills, avoid at all costs. lol

There is also Holy Cross and St. Matthews Catholic as well as a new Catholic high school.

There are private grade schools and University High at the U of I for brainy kids.

I can't say if they are better or worse than what you have where you are or not. There are issues with fights in the high schools on occasion.

Over the years many people have move to Mahomet to the West or St. Joe to the East. From what I have heard the schools there have overcrowding and the same other problems that you would see in Champaign.

Your other option, which would require a drive would (may still be short coming from Chicago) be the tolono area just South of Champaign. They are more small town and have a newer high school Unity. I believe Unity has a decent sports program.

There is also Rantoul (former AFB town) about 15 miles North, but I'm not familiar with their schools.

If you want to let me know your house price range and type I can give you some areas of town to look at and avoid.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Pisces

Someone is in a very boisterous mood today, and you may want to make yourself scarce after a short spell in their company. Their idea of a joke may be your idea of extreme rudeness, or they could take pleasure in being argumentative just for the sake of it. Don't let this person wind you up or you'll go off pop through sheer tension.
