Thank you for your thoughtful response. I don't have anything against the local eateries, and I support them, but when some tower-dwelling snob like Effington acts as if people who eat at chains are the untouchables of society, it strikes a nerve.
Do you want some cheese with your WHINE? Jesus CHrist, get over it man. The dude has a different opinion than you. Welcome to the real world. Why don't you post something substantial other than your little hissy fits?

Here's an idea: Go fist yourself.

I could care less where he likes to eat, to each his own. But he is the one who degrades and insults those who have a different opinion than him on chain restaurants.

And speaking of little hissy fits, I've noticed that Effington's posts keep getting bunches of positive judge-it icons while anyone who disagrees with him gets loads of negative judge-its. Gee, I wonder who might be doing that? His ego is so fragile that he feels the need to back up his own posts by judging himself positively over and over? Pathetic.

Yeah, telling people to fist themselves is a great way to win them over. Have you considered, Deafington, that what you say here is nothing but negative garbage and demonstrates what is clearly a non-stop obsession with me. If you want pathetic, I can't think of a better example.

The only person doing any belittling here is you.

Effington has been around a while, commenting that is, and he has quite a few people that appreciate his insight. Not only that, everyone can clearly see what a deflated whiney hiney you are.
Besides, Effington is kinda like Chuck Norris in that he doesn't have to judge his own posts because the post itself is honored to have his comment and immediately agrees.

False. YOU belittle anyone who makes a positive comment about chain restaurants. Then I, in turn, belittle you. Then you, in turn, cry that your thread is being ruined because someone actually isn't bending over and taking your condescending shi t. But bullies never seem to be able to handle a dose of their own medicine, so I'm not surprised.

Effington has never belittled an individual when he's making comments about local and chain restaurants. He makes critical comments of groups as a whole. If you felt personally attacked by his general comments, that's your issue.

For instance - if I said rednecks have nothing better to do with their time than drinking cheap beer and shooting road signs and you feel like that's an attack on you, that says a LOT more about you than me.

Oh, so he stereotypes groups of people, and you're okay with that? I see racists stereotyping Latin and African-Americans on here all the time and they are rightfully told to shove it where the sun don't shine. But then the same people telling them to f-off turn around and stereotype other groups of people and it's cool?

Do you mean that the "Efmeister" is the most interesting man on topix?
Do sharks have a week dedicated to him?
Does Bigfoot try to capture a photo of him?
Does his mother have a tattoo that reads "son"?
Do aliens ask him to probe them?

Calm down, killer.

Effington makes general statements. But you claim he belittles people and that gives you justification to make constant personal attacks on him.

Now you're conflating his criticisms with racism, for God's sake.

Honestly, you need to get a grip. It's just criticism of restaurants. Take it down a couple of notches.

I don't always respond to Internet trolls. But when I do, I prefer to respond to Deafington.

Deaf, you're like the John Hinckley, Jr. to my Jodie Foster. Don't go shooting anybody just to impress me!

Hey, you can think what you want about me - I've gotten worked up on here before, and I've taken irreverence over the line for comedic purposes. Plus I like getting people like you fired up. If you can't tell the difference between that and racism, you probably shouldn't be on the internet. It's a scary place for people like you.

If you want my honest opinion on something, you want to challenge me on something I said - go for it. I'll respond. But if lame, one-sided attacks are your thing, by all means continue.

I finally make it to Kenzo's last night. Took a young friend who was curious about sushi. We ordered a "sampler" type plate of sushi and chow fun fried rice to share.

The food was delicous and beautifully plated. the rive contained chicken, beef, shrimp and the usual eggs and vegetables. It was served mounded on a triangular shaped platter with a carrot/parsley garnish. We split the order in half and each still brought rice home. The taste was fantastic. It was as good as what I remember House of Kobe being in it's heyday.(Quality there has gone down recently.)

Sushi plate was artfully arranged with a tower of tuna roll in the center and various shashimi (at least 8 different varieties) around the edge. It would have been nice to have known what each type was, as neither of us are that familiear with raw fish. One type of white colored fish was tough to chew, but all the others were very tender, fresh and flavorful.

The clear soup and ginger salad were pretty standard fare, but I really enjoyed something the waitress described at Thai iced tea. It came in a glass with the tea in the bottom and a 3 inch layer of white cream on top. The instructions were to stir before drinking. It was a sweet drink, very delicious, similar to a chai taste. I'm pretty sure she described it as Thai tea, not chai tea - but either way, I'd highly recommend it.

The menu is extensive. Next time when I return on my own I'll be more likely to try something completely differnt, but for this experience we are very pleased with our meal. the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Service was fast and attentive. The place was very clean and comfortable.

Kenzo is still my favorite in town - the waitresses are wonderful, the food is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. I try to go once a week and they make an effort to know their regulars. I highly recommend the Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao if you like noodles, and the chef's special rolls are great too.

In other around the town food news, I noticed that both Cafe d'Italia and Ping's have license-to-serve application placards up. Good for them! I'm guessing they're economic development licenses, but it should help with generating interest downtown. They're just about to start putting up Texas Roadhouse in front of Fuddrucker's and the new Hoss's building is coming along.

Anything else going on in town, foodwise?

Did take from Ping's recently, their Pad Thai is not as good as Kenzo's but still good for this area's offerings. I hope for their success. We have established a regular night at Kenzo, much as we had at Ginger House, and such that we feel obliged to tell them of the weeks we will be out of town. The staff is great. Love, love the spicy tuna bowl and the red thai curry. Love the soba noodle alternative for the stir fry udon.

Aside from the awesome food one of my favorite things about Kenzo is the genuinely nice service the girls give the customers. You truly feel as if they are honored to have you in their restaurant and they're there to satisfy you.

I was reading some reviews for Sakura (Hagerstown) and Aki on places like google reviews, yelp, and urbanspoon and I noticed a pattern of complaints about the service. People spoke about rude servers and feeling unwelcome in the restaurant, etc. Now obviously you can't totally write a place off based on a few negative reviews online, but for someone to take to a big restaurant review site like the ones mentioned about they must have been pretty pissed off with their experience.

I'd say that Kenzo isn't just the most welcoming Asian restaurant in the area - it's the most welcoming restaurant in the area, period. The service is excellent. As far as I can tell, it's run by a multi-generational family that treat you like you're eating in their own home. They knew my name after I'd been there about three times.

And, if you like your noodles spicy... watch out! They really do make it spicy.

Are there other restaurants other then Kenzos and Pings? It seems that the only restaurants that are discussed are Asian.

Surely there are other ones? Yes a few are mentioned, but the focus seems to be on Asian restaurants.

Evidently people want to talk about those restaurants. If you want to talk about other ones, you may.

What restaurants would you recommend people try? Why do you like them?

You're right, there are plenty of restaurants worth talking about - and it's worth mentioning places outside of Chambersburg too, at least in the area. Ping's and Kenzo are some of the newest places though, and they really are great enough that they're worth talking about as much as we have. I mean, if the place that replaced Dodie's had as good food and service as Kenzo has, we'd be talking about them. But we're not... it's not because Kenzo is an Asian restaurant, it's because they really are that good and they set the bar pretty high for new restaurants in the area, no matter what they serve.

Also, in defiance of Deafington, I'm willing to talk about chain restaurants since they're going to dominate the local restaurant scene once Roadhouse, Lonestar and OG pop up. Since it's so hard to get a beer at independently owned restaurants in Chambersburg - and Pennsylvania makes it nearly impossible for them to do so - maybe it's time I embraced the idea that not everything chain restaurant is so bad. After all, I like Ruby Tuesday's salad bar.

But robbie, if you, or anyone else has something to add - please do. Tell us where you like to eat and, most importantly, why? I'll change my mind about any establishment if someone can convince me to give it another chance, or try something I otherwise wouldn't bother with.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Scorpio

It's a frustrating and rather disappointing day because you have to cope with delays and setbacks to your plans. A travel arrangement may have to be postponed or there could be a hitch about something connected with education. You're also feeling subdued and tired, and you're longing to spend some time on your own although this may not be possible. Don't worry, this difficult mood will soon blow over.
