I suppose I am the only one to agree with Wollyung. I agree that weapons do not need to be taken into a polling place. It is your right to carry a weapon and I don't disagree with that, but that there are specific places where I think they don't need to be carried. I agree with the judges decision to give back his permit.

It should have never gone this far, no matter what one's thinking is on 'right to carry' issues.
Mr. Rotz has righted his wrong.
It is good to see fresh blood in the sheriff's office.
I want to know how much this whole fiasco has cost the taxpayers. I think the bill should be sent to mr. Wollyung.

Lil' that wasn't the issue. The issue was that Wollyung did not have any issue to revoke the RTC. If Rotz did something wrong, then he would have been arrested. There are no laws that say that one cannot carry a firearm into the poll, so there were no reasons to revoke. That was the issue. If you think that there should be a law, write to your legislature--although I think you will be hard pressed to get such an unconstitutional law passed.

I agree with lil ol me. There is a time and place to have a gun and the polling place is NOT one of them.I put this on legislation, there is absolutley no need to have a firearm inside a polling place and the situation should never happen again.I agree that Mr. Rotz should get his permit back, but on the same hand wish one of are politicians would step in and write legislation to prevent guns from being carried into the polling places.

Gee thank you Sheriff of Old.
What did your little mis-adventure cost us, the county taxpayers, for your courthouse "experiment?"
Salaries? Fees? Investigative/background work? Court prep? Witnesses?
Unbelieveable.

Well the wrong was righted, too bad it neede to even go this far, all because the EX-Sheriff didn't want to look bad and admit he screwed up.

If a terrorist would want to shoot up a polling place to show up democracy, he shouldn't worry about trying to hide his weapon - just strap it on & walk right in.
How do you stop it?

It's a crying shame that a decent American citizen had to pay thousands of dollars to have his License to Carry Firearms returned after being taken away for no lawful reason.
It was taken because the Sheriff had a different OPINION as to Mr. Rotz's right to carry a firearm while he exercised another right we all enjoy. The right to vote.
I hope that those who attempt to deny the rights of the people realize that we DO remember these incidents and we WILL use our rights to vote said officials out of office.
Whether you agree with Mr. Rotz's actions on the day his LTCF was revoked or not is unimportant. What IS important is that his rights are no less important than your rights, and the court recognized this today.
Thank you Mr. Rotz, for standing tall and doing the right thing.

Thank you Mr. Rotz. The judge made the right decision. Now I want Sheriff Anthony to do a flyer in simple language explaining firearm laws in the county. It doesn't appear that even the sheriff and constables are sure what the law is. That's one way to turn this issue to a positive nature....educate us so we are sure if this is a "must retreat" state etc.

The "process" works and justice is served. It is too bad you need a lawyer in a case like this where you did nothing wrong. I would love to know what the constable said to the former sheriff and why the former sheriff acted the way he did. In the end it all worked out though and that is what our legal system is all about.

Your right, as protected by the 1st Admendment, is to express your opinion - however, if you are agreeing with Mr. Wollyung, you agree that an individual has the right to abuse his position because his opinion of what the law SHOULD BE, is not what the law happens to be. Mr. Wollyung is in voilation of the law, not Mr. Rotz
