"Steve Cummings, incident coordinator for Marion Fire Company, said he was unsure exactly why the vehicle overturned." How about speed and improperly secured load? Making a right turn off Wayne Ave onto the on-ramp, think about it.

Cant make assumtion on why the vehicle overturned. Thats not his job and he made the correct statement, the state police have to investigate the crash and they will say why it tipped.

and the reason it caught fire is because newcomers is too lazy to drain gas tanks before they haul. its dangerous, yes they make more money bc they can do things quicker bc draining the tanks can take a while still...

Just glad no-one was seriously injured~~~it was nasty looking and I was wondering if any vehicle was stuck under the trailer when it flipped.

Who ever drives a maroon Ford Probe and is a member of the Fire Police was driving like an idiot down Mckinley street. He passed me on Mckinley where I am sure there is NO passing , then he flew through the High School school zone, no the school zone lights weren't flashing but there we a lot of people in the area. If you want to drive like an idiot that's you business but you better hope and pray you hurt or kill some one other than yourself on your way to a call for traffic controlin the mighty "FIRE POLICE 1". I believe that the law is that you do not have to yield or move over for the "blue light specials". The vehicle has to have red lights and siren. You fire police guys have got some winners among you.

They may do a difficult job but they rarely do it well. They need a tremendous amount ot training to even seem competent. Fire police have no more authority to speed to a call than i do as a regular civilian. That's the job of the police to do. I have lived in many places and i have never encountered Fire Police before moving to PA. This is one group of people that seem to always make a bad thing worse. maybe some training would help but i doubt it. I know these guys aren't all morons but as a group they stink pretty good.

Draining the tanks doesn't ensure that they won't still catch fire. it helps but it doesn't prevent.

Wouldnt he have been making a left hand turn off wayne ave. onto the northbound ramp? Instead of a right hand turn off wayne ave. onto the northbound ramp?

If coming out of Chambersburg, it is a left hand turn. If coming from New Franklin, it is a right hand turn. Hope this clears things up for you.

I agree with you 100% about the blue light. I know you have an important job to do, but driving like idiots is not on the list. I also think that you also need a lesson on directing traffic. The gentleman directing traffic on Wayne Avenue was directing an 18 wheeler turning to go to 81 was directed to go straight through becfauseof the accident. Well the truck I guess saw me next to him (in the through lane) or I would have had an accident. The fire policemen could not see me as the truck hid me. I only saw the fire police because the truck waited for me to pass.

The guy that drives the ford probe is the best d*mn fire police this county has. I know him and he does not drive like a idiot. Maybe you should shut up and join the fire police and then you well understand that being a fire police is not an easy job and they get NO respect. They get yelled at, cursed at all because you people are in such a hurry to go nowhere. Maybe if you all slow down and stop driving like idiots yourself then there would no reason for fire police. I also believe the law states ambulances can't run red lights and go faster than the speed limit. But it happens every day anyway.

I was really close to calling the boro police on him. I am not bashing all fire police at all . I am only pointing out that they do not need to drive like idiots.

Ambulances are the ONLY ones allowed by law to speed because they are carrying life or death situations. Fire equipment nor fire police are not. (By the way, the use of blue lights in Chambersburg boro is against the local laws, or so I was told.)

I never move over for the blue lights. I will move for the rest. These guys are spark chaseing boneheads who do speed and pass when they shouldn't.

Queen, That's not correct, check the vehicle code and you'll find it references emergency vehicles are not required to obey posted traffic signals, lights etc. Not sure anymore, but at one time, ambulances were NOT included as emergency vehicles.
