I thought Royal Automotive had a good reputation. This could not have been more wrong! They charged me for something they did not do and caused me several hundred dollars in damages and repair! The GM and owner treated me like crap!
When I complained, the GM of Royal Automotive said he would "investigate" and get back to me. He never did. I called him back weeks later and he didn't know what I was talking about. I went in and spoke with the owner who said he would "take care of the problem and have the GM get back to me". I gave him my business card. One hour later the GM of Royal Automotive called me and yelled at me! He belittled me and my business! He told me I was a "big boy" and should know when my business is not wanted and I should not ever come back! I took my car and my truck to Van's Automotive. I had them put a starter in my 98 Olds 88. The young man said he didn't have a starter in stock and that it may take a few more days. My wife really needs the car so I went to O Reilly's in Fulton and got a new starter from Gary. I took it to Van's Automotive. Little did I know this made the owner, Van, VERY upset! After a few weeks I took my wife's Blazer there that we bought as we had decided to sell the car. I told him the EGR valve was stuck open and I needed him to fix/replace it. They charged me $397! I paid the money but it was the worst $400 I have ever spent in my life! The thing died twice before getting out of his lot! I called him on my cell each time! He told me he would look at it the "next time" I brought it in! I almost got hit by an 18 wheeler tanker in Fulton when it died at the car wash by Jimeel's donut shop! My wife took it back to him the next morning! The man told her he was tired of my calling him and he was getting "fed up with her"! What customer service this man had! He told her it was not his fault the Blazer had EGR problems again. He said he would have to charge us all over again! Whats more...he told her that his son had a Blazer that did the same thing a few years ago and they put a screen in it and it has not done it since! What I want to know is why he didn't say that the first time and put a screen in my truck?! Or even pick up the phone and ask me?! This man charges $60 an hour like he was some ASE certified mechanic like his shirt says! Van acts as if he were 13! He said he would rather not have me as a customer anymore! What can anyone do? They have a monopoly around these parts and they are worse than price gougers at the gas pump! People should not stand for this!...but what can we do? If we don't pay idiots like these then we don't get our cars back and/or we go to jail. What can I do? What can we do as an innocent public that needs to be informed and protected from this kind of theft? It is all legal and it hurts! I don't know about you but with the price of gas I cannot afford too many people stealing wads of cash like this from me! Now, I have to spend money all over again for the same problems that Van and Royal couldn't/wouldn't fix! I have contacted the BBB. Van said he didn't care if I contacted the BBB and hung up on me this morning. The GM at Royal Automotive refuses to give me the owner's name. How can we sit idle by and allow this sort of thing to continue to happen? Do we sit by and allow the monopoly and abuse to continue? Is good customer service a thing of the past? What happened here with these two automotive places is nothing but LEGAL THEFT and should be punished! Police can do nothing! Services NOT rendered! I would like for this letter to the Editor to be published in it's entirety. Please let the public know what they have a right to know. These two places have stolen money from me and have not fixed what they charged me for fixing. They are thieves! |
