It's a sad state of affairs for Ohio's middle class citizens, who simply want their voice heard, but will undoubtedly be drowned out by the wealthiest Ohioans, the only ones who have Kasich's ear.

I am actually a fiscally conservative and socially conservative individual, who generally votes Republican. With the exception of his stance on gambling at Ohio's race tracks, I didn't think Strickland did that bad of a job (he submitted two balanced budgets, including one that was approved unanimously by the Ohio legislature). But Kasich is perhaps the most arrogant politician in America. He needs to be reminded that more people voted against him than voted for him (he only got 49% of the vote)- he talks like he has some sort of a "mandate". Actually, he simply rode the anti-incumbent wave of 2010 into office.

The challenges that Ohio has faced in the last 3 years are not unique to Ohio, nor were they caused (or, in my belief, compounded) by Strickland's policies. The nation has been in a deep recession (arguably, caused by out-of-control spending by Republicans), and Ohio, like most states in the rust belt, has been hit harder than many other states during this time. But when the nation emerges from the recession Ohio will as well - regardless of Kasich's policies.
