Read this and anyone who still wants these anti-americans in this town or would eat there are just plane stupid. Its time to take a stand and show companys like this if they hate America then they need to just leave.

---
ANNISTON, Ala.-- Officials with the parent company of Olive Garden restaurants say they're sorry if a decision regarding an Alabama Kiwanis club's desire to display the American flag caused any concern.
The comments come after 80-year-old Marti Warren of Anniston said she wasn't allowed to bring an American flag into an Olive Garden for a planned Kiwanis Club banquet in the east Alabama town of Oxford.
Warren learned the night of the banquet that she wouldn't be allowed to display the flag or the Kiwanis banner in the restaurant, she said.
"I was so angry," she told WBRC-TV. "I felt like I had been slapped in the face."
Orlando-based parent firm Darden restaurants said in a statement that "like all Americans we have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for the American flag and everything it symbolizes."
The Oxford Olive Garden lacks a private dining area, which led to the decision, company officials said.
"To be fair to everyone and avoid disrupting the dining experience for all other guests, they're unable to accommodate flags or banners of any type in the dining room," according to the statement.
Without a flag at the Kiwanis banquet, Warren said she asked club members to close their eyes and picture the flag waving in the wind as they said the pledge of allegiance.

I agree with you but like it or not they are coming to Richmond. And the people of Richmond will support them with welcome arms. The prob. is no one stands up for whats right in this contry. People allow the so called do gooders and nuts tell them whats right and whats wrong. If Americans dont wake up and stand up for their country soon there wont be a country to stand up for.

And from that statement you interpreted it to mean they were 'anti-American'? And that they hate America?

But they won't just quietly leave.....they stand up and try to convince their other visitors to cause the same uproar, this can lead to terrorism. The 911 hi jackers were trained to fly here in the US! They were rude trouble makers even before they took over the planes and the buildings that day. Face it, Olive Garden is based on a foreign concept, that's why people want the place here, and an American flag would make it look too much like Richmond, Indiana or some other place in the the US here when they want you to fantasize that you are in Italy? I'm not saying it's a bad place, or a bad company but it's hyped up so much that people wanted the place so much like a bratty kid at Christmas wanting a toy they didn't deserve. Haha
I wonder

I would almost guarantee if it was a Mexican flag not a word would have been said, and more than likely any other nations flag.

since when are we ashamed of the good ol red white and blue,it may offend 1 or 2 people so deny thousands, this country is based on freedoms you have the freedom to turn your head and walk the other way if this flag offends you, unfortunately society would rather deny an american the right to observe that same flag so as to not offend someone else, problem i have if the resteraunt is catering to people who are offended by the symbol of america maybe they should find a place with less americans to operate,as i said we tend to deny tousands so we do not offend a few,i for one will not patronise this place not even once, doubt i will be missing out,GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR TROOPS....sorry if i misspelled anything i know how much it bothers some of you

You said it so right i couldnt agree more. The really sad part is when olive garden opens in Richmond people will rush to eat there. They will say it dont realy effect them but they are so very wrong. Any time you give up a right you never get it back thats why we are loseing our country a little at a time.

Don't get me wrong but after reading your post this is what I thought. Sure, they have freedoms, but so do they. I could argue freedom of speech if I were to curse in a news paper article and they censer it or like on the pal-item I make a comment that they don't like then they remove it, But the point here is just because you have a freedom, so do the other guys.

Here's a question. I don't want the flag put up but they do and neither of us want to leave. How would you solve this? Answer Well it's their business so you would have to follow their rules.

And I bet you will visit it once it's built. How do I know. Look at all the people that said if they destroyed part of the Arboretum and built all those store's would never go to them. I see people everyday going into best buy, Menards, starbucks, ect and some of them where the ones arguing about it the worst. Heck they even work at them.

I can promise you will lose your bet,I for one will not be a customer of the new Olive Garden or any other of their places,i have yet to visit starbuck since their response of"we don't support the war" after being asked to send coffee to our troops overseas, yet they have a coffee shop on almost every military base in the states,it is your right to not fly the most wonderful american symbol if you choose not to i am saying i should have the right to fly it and have the same respect, all i am saying is when is it better to deny millions of peoples rights to apease one who could look away, what if a veteran went in with a uniform on,by the way they have the flag on them, should he be asked to leave or go outside and change before being served,i think not, fact is if you dont like it dont go in,and once again i promise I for one will not,go team U.S.A.

I think you guys are making this a bigger deal than it calls for. Notice their statement said they don't have a separate private room for groups or meetings and they don't allow any banners or flags. Since all of their customers would have to see whatever is posted (due to a lack of a separate room), they are considering all their customers. Perhaps it is a policy to avoid problems in the future because if they allow the Kiwanis to hang their banner/flag, then wouldn't they have to allow every other group, political & religious groups included, to display their banners/flags? YES. They would open a Pandora's box of possible issues. Insurance and lawsuits among them. Let's turn the tables, shall we? Would you want to sit under a communist flag and dine? Would you want to see an Islamic banner upon entering the dining room? Don't you think it's a smarter decision to say "no" to all banners/flags than have to say "yes" to all?

Sorry i just have to reply to this idiot. You asked what about a communist flag or islamic flag. Are some Americans really this stupid when it comes to their own country? Ok skunkbutt ill explain this to you not that you will understand but ill try. This is the United States of America If someone is offened by our flag while in our country then they need to get the hell out. We are not talking about other banners we are talking about our flag that men and women have died for. Yes they even died so you can live in this country and are free to write stupid coments on topix.Everyone should be proud and never ashamed to display the American flag

"what if a veteran went in with a uniform on,by the way they have the flag on them, should he be asked to leave or go outside and change before being served"

I don't think you understand what I am saying. If person came in with a flag pin on, uniform, or what ever. I wouldn't see a problem with that. But what would you do if a person came in with a kkk uniform on or nazi uniforms. They all have historical importance. Would you tell them to leave?

I don't take sides, I just look at every angle and make a call from what I see..... Like has been said before if you allow one flag you have to allow them all even the ones you don't like or want. Rules and policies have to be followed.

Why is it you can reuse your cup and refill it yourself at burger king yet they waste a cup and they refill it NOT you at Wendy's? They do this because of their own rules and policies. I have been reading stories about this and it seems like they are allowing flags, But even so Olive Garden is a private property so they ultimately have the final say. I could care less if I walked into a store, restaurant, office, ect and didn't see a flag. After all this talk this is what it comes down to. You can hang as many American flags as you want at YOUR house, but don't tell other people, other stores, other restaurants that they have to do the same. That takes away their freedoms. America is full of diversity would you agree? We have many races and religions. And sense Olive Garden is Italian based if they so choose to keep it as authentic as possible than so be it.

Sorry... I just had to reply to this idiotic comment. I'll try to explain this to you, not that you will understand anyway, but I'll try. Yes, while this is the United States of America, we have alot of Multiculturalism. Meaning America is comprised of many races and cultures. You have Native Americans(the TRUE Americans), Africa Americans, European Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic and Latino Americans, and finally us the White Americans. As you can see there is more to America than just ONE flag. So as I see it. Everyone should be proud and never ashamed to display ANY flag. But as I said before to keep it on point Olive Garden is private Property and as such has the ultimate say in the matter.

never claimed they didn't have the right just stated i diagree with the policy and their stance, and that i would not be spending my money there,as far as a nazi or kkk i think there is a bit of a difference in these groups,we are not talking about a group of extremist we are talking about the symbol of our great nation,if they cannot accomodate a group for a banquet due to not having a private banquet room then maybe they should not rent the space out,but hey enjoy your salad and breadsticks I'll have a good ol hamburger at the house

You proved to be more stupid then i thought. If a person is a true American no matter where they came from there is only one true American flag. I also notice olive garden has no prob. taking American money.
