It will never happen, Petunia. What has Mexico ever contributed to this country besides illegals, crime and the Burrito? Reconquista my @/s/s!

Quote ~ Hanen's ruling is not expected to change the status of the dormant El Paso smelter, which company officials had agreed before to place in a trust as part of a $52 million environmental cleanup plan. Asarco LLC announced earlier it had no plans to reopen the El Paso facility.~

Exactly what are their plans for this particular Asarco Plant? It worries me that we just sell off everything in America.

It woud be interesting to track all the members of this Grupo Mexico S.A.V. de C.V. and their contacts. The EPA has all but put the smelter out of business. So many questions arise.

A U.S. smelter would be a great place to launder drug money. Also, it is adjacent to the border. Can you spell "tunnel?"

The El Paso plant will be sold to some quick profit American company that will open the plant, run it a few years and then walk away, leaving El Paso with more lead, toxics and a standing pile of crap to greet El Paso visitors.

It would be worth the 52 million partial clean up of the site and the cost of a couple of scrubbers just to push poisons for profit. The Republican controlled TEQC will approve anything in this state and with a few campaign contributions to Texas politicians in Washington the EPA will be pressured to back off.

El Paso, get ready for the sweet smells of Asarco again. So long as that smoke stack stands, Asarco still lives.

Everywhere ASARCO touches is another Superfund site waiting to be cleaned up. Most of it being paid for by U.S. taxpayers.

It appears that the ASARCO site is now an asset and as such will be sold if not reopened. Once sold, El Paso will again suffer under some company that will only be interested in profits.

Only the state can stop this from happening. If our current Governor wants to really help El Paso, he can join in the crowd that wants to put an end to this abuse of El Paso's population.

The drug cartels probably own all kinds of companies in Mexico and US. If one person was being included as a multi billionaire in Forbes , people aren't dumb to believe that who runs business in MX. Just like Afghanistan is oil rich, and opium rich while people live in poverty .

And Bush and Perry have exploited Texas and the people to cater to these toxic polluting dumps. Instead of them cleaning up their mess they rigged the system to leave the tax payers to clean up their crap. They and their agenda can do to the dumps. Same with the insurance industries, utilities, etc.

I knew it! I knew it! Corruption has won again by allowing Mexico to buy Asarco and operate the plant. Now the U.S. citizens have nothing to say about it nor can we really do anything about it since the company belongs to another Country now. Dam we're stupid! We should have spent the money to level the stupid place and make something of the property. Gads, these City fathers are so damnable stupid! Now what? UTEP students, businesses and residents on the West side are to be poisoned? What about all the money that was spent on replacing property soil. Damm. Damm. Damm!

A simple solution is to have the entire area placed in an historical zone and not allow any improvements because of its historical significance.
Besides, no one would recognize El Paso without its ASARCO smoke stack.
Take the money and run with it El Paso Historical Society.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Leo

You're really on the ball today so there's no danger of anyone tricking you or fobbing you off with lame excuses. If you suspect that a loved one is hiding something from you, you'll want to question them in a lot of detail. That's all very well but try not to turn it into the third degree, nor to make them feel hounded or bullied by your desire to know what's going on.
