Just let everyone in the fine city of Edmonton know that SEWA MAGNET WIRE FACILITY is ending it's operations June 30 of this year.So it looks like the failing of the us economy is finally hitting the smaller communitys.

Made the front page in the Glasgow Times today. Moving out of the country. It is costing them too much to operate in this country. I know some people that "work" there and this doesn't surprise me at all. Too much fooling around on the job for the pay they are receiving and this has been going on for years.

I can obviously read and write better than you can and no, I have never filled out an application there. I make better than they pay and I've always earned my money and have never expected the company that I work for to pay me for fooling around on the job.

My husband is an employee at SEWA. They are closing the factory starting in June 2008 and plan to have the manu. ceased by mid 09. Yeah there us "fooling" around out there as and ANY other factory or workplace for that matter. Here is the problem with SEWA; too many chiefs and not enough indians. The only thing wrong with this is that the administration is not qualified to run such a facility as this corp. and it has caused the factory to in turn go in the ground. We are going to suffer tremendously by the closing. We live relatively close to the plant, so to find another job with the cost of gas at the rate my husband works per hour is going to be nearly impossible. So the bottom line is people to get a life, think about the innocent and don't sweep one doorstep without sweeping them all. There are good and bad people EVERY WHERE and in EVERY TOWN in America. Judgement proves character in the beholder of the spoken.

Thank you but I can do my own praying. Pray for yourself and the people that work there. If you read my original post again, I did not say that everyone that works there is fooling around on the job but I do know some people that work there that do and they brag about it. If you work there and are doing what they pay you to do, then I am not talking about you or anyone else that does their job. The economy is the worst right now than I can ever remember and in order to keep these companies here in this country everyone with a job needs to do the very best job that they can.

Ouch!!! I must have stepped on some toes without meaning to. My original post was only meant to answer the questions of those above it. According to the Glasgow Daily Times on March 27, "The company's magnet wire production is being moved to other countries including China, Malaysia and Indonesia." Also, "There is no choice but to eliminate production of magnet wire in Kentuckky, because the costs to manufacture our products in the United States are too high for us to be competitive in this industry." These were both quotes from management at SEWA.

I just put it in a little plainer language. One of the people that I know that works there helps keep Metcalfe County's bootleggers in business, well I guess they have kids too and mortgage payments to make. Yeah, don't forget to pray for the bootleggers.

It has nothing to do with the quality of work out of the workers or managment and everything to do with Capitalist/Corporate America at it's finest. These companies out-source there work and move to other countries because they can pay the workers 3/4 what they have to pay here in the U.S. and get a lot more production. It's truly sad, but that's life in America. Good luck to all who have been/will be, affected by this.

I hope that I dont sound to stupid for asking this....but are you all talking about the plant accross from Carheart? Someone told me that it was the BandAid factory and to be honest I had no ideal that they has one of them there (bandaid factory). I dont live in Edmonton but I use to work at Sumitomo (I dont think I spelled that right)but again is that the plant that is closing it's doors?
Any info would be appreciated.

People associate the factory as "the one that smells like bandaids". It is not the factory directly across from Sumitomo. Both SEWA (Sumitomo Electric Wintec America)_the one closing, and Sumitomo (the bigger factory of the two are owned my Japs. SEWA only has app. 110 employees, the big plant has many more than this. The smell of one of the chemicals, krysal (?), smells much like a bandaid, only stronger. It is truely sad that the plant is closing b/c this is the best paying factory in the county. I assume this is b/c of the kind of wire they make and the krysal is very harmful if it gets on you. I will burn your skin on contact.

First of all you need to get your facts straight. It was never Counrty Deli..It used to be The Deli...Now its Byrant's Snackin Shack. Its a very nice place to eat, very affordable, good food . YOU also need to learn to spell too. Her name starts with a A not O.....Also I would like to know where she has time to sleep with all these so called men???? With her working at SEWA 4 DAYS A WEEK THEN AT HER RESTURANT THE REST OF THE TIME.....THINK YOU HAVE ALL THE FACTS???...THINK AGAIN
