Mr, Nunez has been there for a while and he knows what is going on with our education. He does not need to let everyone know what he has done with his votes. He needs to let the legislative people in education and the administration here in El Paso, TX know. I do know that he voted against Muslim religion being taught here in Texas. I agree with that totally. I know he has done what he believes is best for El Paso. I have not really heard too many bad things about him. Most of the few complaints are minisecule and not very important. He by far is the better person for this position.

Garza is by far the superior candidate. Let his record on education speak for itself. Every school he has touched has gone from nothingto recognized of exemplary. Nunez is a sad excuse for a candidate, missing 66 percent of all votes, and when he does vote he votes against , phonetics, agaist critical thinking , against rearch and writing techniques, against english and rhetoric, and if he has it his waythe amendment to nix all history pre-cold war andin its lace... studies on "pop-culture" to include curriculum on ( Oprah Winfrey ) that is not essential for our kids to learn, how does Nunez and his policies influence our society other than making us even less competitive in the wrld market. Vote for Carlos "Charlie" Garza

He knows what education stands for, something that can't be said about the Republican Slate on the Board. They still believe in Roman Empire relic and act like Texas is the Italy under Mussolini.

Nunez is a moderate board member who doesn't say too much but is basically ok.

If you want to save money however don't vote Garza because he's part of the group who wants to re-write history and get rid of our current textbooks. If you think politicians instead of teachers should decide curriculum and don't mind paying more for changing textbooks than vote Garza.. but don't claim to want to save money.

Garza only wants History rewritten back to reflect what actually happened not what is PC accurate.

and who pays for the re-writing when we have 4.8 million school children.

Chief lets see if you are a thinker or a robot.
Give us a few specific things in error in our history that justify this cost

I know all about the Klan- they even had a camp in Rockport. They peaked in power in the 1920's elections, winning races across the country including the mayorship in Indianapolis. Huey Long to his credit ran against them and won but that same year they won the Mayorship in Houston as well.

What do you know about the 1953 Dodgers- they may have had their best team but didn't win the series till '55?

Does any of this justify rewriting textbooks for 4.8 million kids? Textbooks can easily cost $100 per child. Let the parents teach them the extra.

Remember it was the conservative school boards that sponsored and co-sponsored the resolutions to keep politics out of the curriculum.

Why not Google Steve Fischer State Board of Education and you can actually learn about this

If you are going to have a government monoply teach our kids they need to teach correct history,

School districts waste so much money 100 buck a kid is peanuts.

Chief if you can't write one decent sentence correctly, how did you become a historian?

$100 per student with 4.8 million students is $480,000,000 in direct costs. That is more than peanuts when you already have an $18 billion or more shortfall.

Ever consider that historians should write history, not politicians?

The entire furor over history textbooks is the result of politicians on both sides ramming their ideology down the throats of teachers in K-12.

Radical thought, I know.

Politicians wrote history in Hitler's Germany, Stalin's Russia, and Hussein's Iraq, as in the North Korea of the little guy with the big glasses who needs a good slapping.

sorry, I'm no historian, I am a retired Army Officer, it is too bad we have to spend so much to give our kids real history instead of revisionist.

Daily Horoscope for June 1

Capricorn

Someone you care about could easily lose the plot today, which will lead to all sorts of ructions. Be patient - they aren't thinking logically or rationally, and are easily influenced by their emotions. Take care if you start to take on their persona, because it will be very tiring and drain you of energy. You'll also find that you keep chopping and changing your mind at the drop of a hat, which will mean others get quite impatient with you.
