What a terrible waste of this property. The local residents "displaced" by the MARMET ( BELLE) Locks project should have had first rights to purchase plots for rebuilding to prevent the devestation of the local communities from a financial and numbers standpoint. They whiped out a Life my Grand-parents started with the FIRST Locks project and paid them PENNIES on the dollar for replacement river LOTS. Talk about a crime! This Jr. High is a beautiful peice of local history that could welcome so many families that long for a local place to build a home and rebuild a community of genuine citizens that care about each other and their community. The abandonement by the school board, Belle, Dupont, and the Locks System( Corps of Engineers), has left these smaller communities at the mercy of whatever "SLUM LORD" wants to buy up what's left as people die off and allow it to be destroyed for a buck. Main Street, perfect example......I dare ya, take a drive and see for yourself......
