I haven't heard of any bigfoot in this area, only panthers in the Edmonson County area of the Mammoth Cave National Park. There were some UFO sightings over that way about 30 or 40 years ago. It does seem that where there are UFO sightings, it is also common to have bigfoot sightings. (At least that is what was reported on the TV show Ancient Aliens.) It might be worth it to you to check with residents living around the Park in Edmonson County. Finding someone over that way that you can believe will be the real chalenge.

Hey!!! Now I don't know about any Bigfoot bizz but
I can tell you for a fact a panther was spotted at mammoth cave park three months ago by a employee mowing on the other side of the river and one was spotted on that knob that gun town mountains on near horse cave. I'm one who has to see to believe in most cases but I know both of these people personally whom are not related to me or each other. The man was mowing at the park and seen turkeys buy the edge of the road when he says looked to be a 40 to 50 lb. black cat jump out of the woods line and grab a turkey. He wouldn't make this up, I know he's telling the truth.

Yes, I was told about 20 years or so ago about a black panther that was seen around the Houchin's Ferry area of the Park. The woman that said she saw it several years before that was one that was very truthful. I have also heard about the strange sounds at night made by something that isn't a cat or wolf. There are a lot of woods in that area, could be anything there.

I do know of a bigfoot sighting in the early 1960s at Valley Station (now a part of Louisville). There were several farm hands that saw it run across a field and jump a fence headed for some woods that were about 1/4 mile away. They took guns and went after it but never saw it again once it got into the woods. There were some farm animal mutilations in that same area along about that time and for several months after. Two of the farmers that never got along blaimed each other for killing each other's animals but I don't believe either one would do that to the other. It was just really strange and the sighting took place in broad daylight. I believe all the men that were involved are dead now. They were really worked up over it at the time but most people around there didn't believe them so they quit talking about it. I don't recall anyone at the time associating the bigfoot sighting with the animal mutilations. It has only been in recent years, after hearing about other sightings, that I linked the sighting back then to the animal mutilations.

I have tried to talk to park rangers at mammoth cave about strange sounds at night and the possibility of bigfoots in the park or even panthers and bears and what I got was a big run around. Some said that they don't have bears or panthers and no reports of strange sounds or Sasquatch. Others said yes their are black bears hear and others say they aren't allowed to give that kinda info. I asked if we could do a night investigation and was denied do to possibility we may disturb paying customers. Any one with any thoughts

Actually the Valley Station incident happened in the mid 70s, I lived there and remember it well. I was listening to a police scanner the night it happened. Several cops were eyewitnesses to the incident.

No, no, no. You must know about a different sighting than I am talking about. No police reports were made on the one I know about and it was in the afternoon during daylight hours. The one I know about was before 1962. The police were called about the animal mutilations but there wasn't anyone that connected them with the bigfoot sighting.

It's not likely that you would ever get permission to hunt for anything on the park at night, even with just cameras and recorders. However, you may have better luck with some of the people that own land that joins onto the park. Keep in mind that it is rather easy to get lost in some of those woods, and you sure wouldn't want to end up on park property. Ticks, chiggers and turkey mites are really bad over there too, so use plenty of insect repellant if you do go in those woods.

Bosk, there are Bigfoot creatures in the areas surrounding the park. I've seen them. But they're on private lands and WKU owned lands. I think there are too many people in the woods in Mammoth Cave Park for the creatures to go there. They don't like people I think? Whatever the reason they stay away from populated areas. A good place to start looking is in the WKU owned land up river from the Park boundary. That's near where I've seen them. I hunt the next farm up from there. I bet that's why WKU bought the property there too. There's a bunch of them there.

I know it could just be mis-identification of a hippy, I used to be a hippy. I would sit out in the woods and eat magic mushrooms all day long and hallucinate all night long and run the woods naked yelling for the monkey gods to come and get me. I am about 6 ft 7in and weigh 400 lbs and hair down to my ass. I had big freaking feet too. So I could see why people thought I was bigfoot. So next time you see a bigfoot probably just another hippy or maybe you are eating the magic mushrooms.
