Harold (Pappy) gonna miss ya. This guy made an impact on my life as he did for so many others. Harold is a legend to look up to. Hang in there Val. I know you will miss him as will we all. His spirit will be in that garage forever. Just listen to the rumble on a cold fall morning and you will here (Pappy) warming up the kids ride. Our unsung hero will be hanging out with our Lord hearing the statment (Well done my good and faithfull servent). Thanks Pappy.

This was truly a tragedy and to his family may they find consolation, as a pre hospital provider these types of accidents are stressful not only for those who work with great people but also those who respond, to the students at Central Catholic remember that God will recieve him into his arms and welcome him, also God bless the paramedics and emts who answered the call and did their best.

drive thru garages but the extra space and the cost of two doors usually keeps this from happening they can give a crappy teacher tenure and 100 grand a year but spend the money on what is safe why do that

Such a shame!!!! I am sure age had some factor in this. A bus doenst back up fast they are slow and lumbering? I have alwayas questioned the age (no so much safety) of drivers. I knew a parkland driver once. He told me that they are paid the best in the valley. But it still sounded more like a working poor man's salary. The younger cant afford to drive a bus. Its probobly the most underpaid skilled part time job in the valley. It will always be treated like the unwanted step child of the districts. Fortunately it wasnt a student! I am not bashing all older drivers. I just think school districts keep the older ones on longer more due to neccessity rather than safety.

I'd like to share who school bus drivers are, in response to Mike. Most drivers are mom's, retirees, and small business owners. The job is tailor made for this group of people. The salary is great because of the responsibility and the skill required.

How tragic - the world needed him so badly yet he has gone on... I pray for Peace for the driver of the bus that caused the accident and for Pappy's family.

I worked for the District back in 1988 when my husband became disabled and as people have said this is the best part time job a person could have. Pappy will be sadly missed as he was a gentle man always ready to help and many times I would come in and my bus was warm and ready to go. I have since moved to Ohio but send my condolences to his family and all those who woked with him, he will be sadly missed. My heart goes out to his family, but he is in a better place probally driving bus in Heaven.

Did he need the thousands from China and Burma up there with him too? Just honor the life that he lived and stop pretending that he's floating around on a cloud somewhere.

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or sympathetic?!?! "It was only a bus driver" are you kiddin, a human being that is responsible for up to 70 children possibly while they drive. Remember, he chose to be just a bus driver, when he could have made a much bigger impact in the lives of children in other, more important, ways. Such a loss. RIP.

Oh and more more thing, bus drivers DO make an impact on the lives of children, they are the first and last point of contact each day for the children. I fondly remember many wonderful bus drivers from when I went to school. These bus drivers have to deal at times with unruly students, yet drive that bus while doing so and get all students home safely and in a timely fashion. But again I suppose you also think the custodians are slime too because they are not "important" like teachers and administrators.

So, when you reach your timely or untimely demise, we should comment that you are ONLY an 'old timer', ONLY a parent, ONLY a grandparent?! Come on! This man made an obvious impact to the school, staff, children, parents, HIS FAMILY. Only a bus driver? Who do you think you are? He was another human being who's life was cut short by an accident! He served and impacted many! I only hope people can say that of you when you pass. It's a shame that your granddaughter only saw him as 'only a bus driver', too. Shows what kind of impact you've had on the world.

Thanks for the "backhanded" condolences to Pappy by the way. He did make an impact in the lives of the children, AND his co-workers. Walk one step in a man's shoes before you judge.
