I guess Kevin Howe fell asleep last night during the Monterey City Council special meeting to consider the TAMC light trail proposal...
A very interesting discussion and surprising outcome.... |

Why the editor chose to print Will's letter is beyond me. It's no different than printing, "Nah, nahh your mother wears combat boots." Will doesn't give any proof of any lies told by the President nor does he give any explanation of what "America dies" means or why he thinks that's the case. Childish. Maybe the exposition of the childishness of this position was the editors point.

Darren Davis: The light rail is meant to connect to other rail services in Castroville, specifically, new rail services between Salinas and the San Francisco Bay Area that are also in the works. That's the primary reason for running to Castroville. It will also provide a better commuter link between Marina and Monterey, which is the first phase of the proposed project.
The recreation trail would not be eliminated, either. The right-of-way is 100 feet wide, which is ample to provide for both rail and trail. You should know, however, that the railroad right-of-way was purchased for Monterey and Seaside with Caltrans money in the early 1980s. The agreement requires the two cities to keep the right-of-way available for future transit development. The rec trail was just a happy by-product of that agreement and will remain regardless of what is done for transit. Might note that then-mayor Dan Albert signed a 50 year renewal of the agreement in 2000, so I don't know why he's griping about it. -Mr. Toy www.montereypeninsula.info/delmonte/clubcar.h... |

The Children can use the Monterey Library until PG goes bankrupt and can renegotiate their debt. Stop piling on fees, upon fees, upon taxes, upon taxes, upon taxes.
This has to stop. We have to live within our means, and this needs to be taught to our children.....and we can't afford this $600K plus Library. Vote No on Nov 3....for NO MORE TAXES ON ANYTHING. Explain to children why we can't always have what we want, but we always have access to what we need. |

I love and use the PG Library. The PG Library can be open and serve the residents on much less than the $650,000 that measure J will collect from home owners. The City Council and Mayor have shown no initiative to make the changes that would allow this to happen. Another example of mismanagement and overspending of public funds.
A No vote on Measure J will force the Council to keep the libraray open by making the adjustments that should have been made years ago. |

Hey get with the GOP game plan.
Everything the rich don't use is a socialist luxury. |

Will's letter was more intelligent that the "Bush lied, people died" rant that is repeated like a mantra by the Reds.
