A former Teen Challenge student exposes this abusive Christian alcohol and drug program. Although seen by many as a worthwhile organization, Teen Challenge has a dark side, one of pathological abuse and an obsession with the almighty dollar.

They are trying to open a Teen Challenge in Eureka. Read this for the truth about this "ministry."

Well stated! Teen Challenge has long been considered by many to be an abusive organization hell bent on convincing kids that they are evil! Teen Challenge creates these lies to exploit the kids parents for their money.
A message to the parents; spend quality time with your kids and do not condemn them to the destructive soul sucking abuse that is teen challenge!

Teen challenge is a great opportunity for our troubled youth in today's society. You must also understand that there are many absent parents these days and it is hard for young people to get the attention that they need. Teen Challenge is Christian based and are trying to bring in a positive message in todays society. Teen Challenge does not try to exploit our young people we do a great job of that ourselves. How you ask? Just look at what is on our televison, the music look at the message we are sending them ... I think that Teen Challenge is a asset to our community

Unlike the Bible humans are falliable and sadly in this fallen world there WILL be scammers and bullys and conartists; in Teen Challenge and in all other human organizations, faith based and secular. I'm sorry you had such a negative experience at your particular center, but there are HUNDREDS, please don't poision everyone for investigating for themselves. I attended Western Michigan Teen Challenge and it saved my life, I was never judged, put down or looked down on. Congratulations on your sobriety but please keep your mind open and realize there are those of us who would rather rely on a true higher power, Jesus Christ, as opposed to daily meetings.

I've read some rubbish and lies in my time but ths takes the the mick. I am a former student of teen challenge in the uk and i strongly challenge anyone that says that it doesnt work this i a charitable organization that GOD founded to help deliver those in bondage to drugs if it was'nt for this program i surely would be dead most of the teenchallenge centres around the world do not even recieve funding from the governments, who constantly harp on about their false promises to combat the drug epidemic in their countries so to all the sad people out there that diss this organization i say may god have mercy on your souls cause you must be so lost and confused that maybe you should re-commit yourselves to the LORD and be delivered from your darkness that you are s obviously trapped in GOD bless you

Apparently, your organization hasn't helped you get off crack. Go get some real help! There is life after crack and after phony religious scams like teen challenge. Good luck and as Whitney Houston once said' "crack is wack" and so is teen challenge!

As a graduate of Teen Challenge I can testify that indeed the program is highly effective. In 1984 the US dept of Health and Human services (Those of you who rely on your man's efforts) did a survey of Teen Challenge over a 10 year period (please note this is the 2nd of such undertakings by the US Goverment in reagrds to Teen challenge. Their fist release was in 1974. of US Dept of Health and Human Services survey said TC had a success rate of 76% ie: Jesus Factor)
The new survey released had a success rate of 86% this was based on the following:(just like the first)
Clean and sober for 10 years (thats right 10 years)
A productive member of soceity (no jail)
For those sceptics out there (by this thread you guys are busy) The best secular treatement program is the Betty Ford clinic with a success rate is less then 5%(free your minds on that) and that % is based on 1 year of being clean (not the 10 years like Teen Challenge was surveyed)
All you free thinkers out there! what is the big difference you might add? I am glad you asked. Well the difference is JESUS!!!!!!!!!! facts don't lie just satan.
Just like the sitcom Car 54 "Just the facts" sir.
Jesus Died for you and we are all guilty of sin. With out Christ in your lives your destination is Hell. For thsoe of you that were promised re-incarnation you are in for a big suprise!

Of course, everything you stated was created in your dreamy world of make believe. Though you rant in daft fiction, it was a cute rant, so you get points for style. BTW, there is an Invisible Pink Unicorn waiting to take you to salvation! www.invisiblepinkunicorn.com/

Who awaits us in salvation?
By her pink hooves, she shall lead us!

"And the peasant brought forth his oats and his wheat and his many grains;

And the Invisible Pink Unicorn witnessed this event; And She declared,

'Neigh, neigh neigh.'

And there was much rejoicing."

my heart is breaking for so many lost people. Marcus, how is your life worth living if there is nothing beyond this world? There will come a day when you know that Jesus us real, sadly at that point it will be too late for you. My prayer is that you will be humbled and find the foot of the cross. I cant say too much because I spent many, many years as a skeptic myself.

Put your fears at rest and open your heart to true salvation through the pink unicorn! My prayer for you is you will remain humbled and find the hoove of pink;
"The Invisible Pink Unicorns is a being of great spiritual power. We know
this because she is capable of being invisible and pink at the same time.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorn is based
upon both logic and faith. We have faith that she is pink; we logically
know that she is invisible because we can't see her."

"Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine..."

(Patti Smith)

Amazing how the robots come out of the woodwork to defend the very institution that lobotomized them and made them into zombies for the Republican party and hate-filled bigots, just like their leaders Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. I think I read somewhere in the Bible where Jesus said not to abuse kids, too bad the Teen Challenge folks didn't pick up on that.

One day Christianity will be regarded as a joke and a myth and people will say, "Did they really believe that?" And that will be a good, good day. Maybe humans will actually be able to grow up without some sort of oppressive, abusive Big Daddy God waiting for you to screw up so he can beat you and throw you to hell.

Keep cult organizations out of your town, folks. Look what it did to the Deep South. Sick, sick, sick people, these Christians.

I spent 11 months at Teen Challenge and the only thing that made it hard for me...was me. I left because I messed up and couldn't find away out. I tell you what though if given another chance I'd go back and do it properly. People have issue's with christianity and God because they still want to live life their way, whether on drugs or not the only way your going to be free is the blood of Christ. Christ is the only answer, he is the only way the truth and the life. I had to leave to find this out. Whilst leaving wasn't the wisest choice I'd ever made in someways it turned out to be one of the best...not that I'm saying you should leave, if you can find away to make Teen Challenge work for you go for it, it'll be so worth it and if you just hang in the reward will be great.

I know first hand that Teen Challenge is not about money. I spent over a year there and never was asked for a dime. When I was there over sixty percent of the clients did not pay. The ones who did payed a fraction of what they would have in a ninty day inpatient program. I was never called evil or made to feel bad I was welcomed and allowe to move at my own pace. It may not be for everyone the structured dayly schedule takes time too get used to but any inpatient program is that way. Teen Challenge is by far and away the most effective inpatient program in the world. I have never seen them turn anyone away. I know have a CACR and the only reason I did not go back to work at Teen Challege is that thay do not pay enough I am working at a ninty day inpatient canter that is all about money and I can tell you first hand that at least eighty five percent of our patients fall right back into relapse TC on the other hand only lose about twenty eight percent to relapse. I know there will always be those who like talk bad about anything involving God but I is extremly closed minded to speak against an organization just because Jesus is the central focus of it. Free your mind the only scam you should be worried about is going on in your head

If it wasn't for this ministry I'd be dead, in Jail or real close to one of the two. I Know it was nothing short of the power of God that changed my life but the vesses of Teen Challenge was a huge part of it. I didn't pay a dime while i was here and have been involved now for 7 years. I've seen countless lives changed and Ive personally taken dozen's of people of the street without asking for a penny. What it comes down to is the narrow mindedness of some people to only believe heresay without searching facts. You can find fault in EVERYTHING but the good this ministry has done for the last 50 years can't be ignored.

I feel deeply sorry for all of you who are sadly mistaken about the ministry of Teen Challenge. i am 26 years old and a former addict of cocaine and alcohol. Jesus Christ has used Teen Challenge as a tool to my salvation, never in my life have i been loved unconditionally by such a widespread, diverse group. I work on the Drug Awareness Team and i stand on storefront and raise money for this ministry, a ministry that turns it's back on no one. Did the gentleman, whom i love as a brother in Christ, mention that 60 % of students come in with just the clothes on their back and no family to speak of? Let me further tell you on the low end, it costs this ministry about $8200 per student for the 15 month program, that's food, shelter, clothing and all other basic necessities.
I would like to thank Teen Challenge for saving my life! I thank the resilience of dedicated fund-raisers, helping save lives, ultimately after the "almighty dollar."

I personally never had a family that told me drugs were wrong. When I came into teen challenge they convicted me of the sin in my life, as they well should, and taught me that true freedom is found only in Jesus Christ. I pity those of you who think that life is a game, or that life should be easy, but the fact remains... it isn't.
Your definition of "abuse" is in fact THE REAL WORLD.In the Real World it takes money to operate a facility such as this. You may not agree with that, but that doesn't change the facts. If you believe that I am brainwashed, you are correct. Washed in the blood of christ and the word of God. "Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom". I am free. Despite what "neigh" sayers may say, God is doing a mighty work through the ministry of Teen Challenge. He is setting the captives free and breaking all the bondages of sin, even if Micheal Kincheloe does not agree.
