Columbine parents plead for release of - basement tapes'

I agree with Rohrbough and Petrone. To withhold information is just wrong. These parents/families need to be able to heal and they can't without seeing the entire picture - those tapes are a big part of it. Harris and Klebold were sick sick sick. The courts are still protecting them and their parents. Why? There are already copycats. Let the Columbine family have everything they ask for - they deserve the entire truth - they lost their kids - what else do you want from them? Understanding? I think not.

God bless Brian Rohrbough and his tireless efforts to get the truth out to the public about this travesty, as well as his outstanding work in communicating to our amoral nation about the link between abortion and teenage mass murderers. When we teach our kids that they are insignificant in the universe, that they are no different from slime in a pond, and that lives of the innocent are cheap and expendable when they are inconvenient to you, what should we expect? We should be shocked that more of our youth aren't acting this way.

Absolutely nothing good could come from the release of these tapes, other than to perhaps galvanize the thoughts of already disturbed people. Mr. Rohrbough is not going to have any closure until he acknowledges that the two people responsible for this tragic act are dead and buried.

So we dont want any copycat school shootings Sheriff Mink? Looks like it's a little to late for that. Why not let the parents of the victims view these tapes if that is what they need.

How bout the closed files about Stone and his SWAT team letting a teacher sit for 3 hours bleeding to death. The Governor found the law enforcement basically pathetic in his report. Rohrbough knows a crack L.A.P.D. S.W.A.T. unit would have roared in. Stone and his inept doofus team were like a Chinese fire drill. All these wacks were picked on...and they went revenge. I've seen fat kids take a baseball bat to jocks and basically pound them into a bloody pulp after teasing.

I truly do not believe that the release of those tapes is going to make any difference. We already know the who, what, when, where and even the why. The only good thing that could possibly come from the boys' tapes is a deeper view of their sickness...that's not going to bring any closure. The judge was right in protecting not just the shooters families but also the families of the victims. We all know how messed up these two kids were...we don't need to see it again.

I would be interested to see these tapes. Could be very interesting.

How odd - the nation rants against NBC for releasing Cho's manifesto and this is a plea for exactly that. Two sides to every coin, obviously.

What would you have done? Would YOU, never having faced this incident in person, SWARMED in without knowing who you were going after? You have to remember that this magnitude of a school shooting had never been faced. The police did the best they could that day with the limited amout of resources that they had. I am so sorry for Brian Rohrbough's loss - I personally knew Danny and miss him too, but don't blame the cops. You are as bad as anyone else for blaming everyone but Harris and Klebold for this horrible day. Don't put it off on somebody else. Could things have been done differently? In some instances, yes! Am I sorry that a teacher spent 3 hours bleeding to death? Yes, but don't blame the cops for working with what they had. If you are so smart about it, you go be a cop. When you face this situation, I'd like to see you respond. Before you snap back, remember that what you THINK you would do, and what you would actually do are 2 entirely different things.

TCM - I couldn't agree more. Nobody really wants to see those tapes. It's like asking a homicidal maniac to please describe, in detail, how they killed your loved one. I empathize with the families, but it's time to let it rest. There is NO benefit to releasing those tapes. I wonder if the families would even be able to sit through watching them? I probably couldn't! And as has been shown this week with the outcry over the V-Tech video and their subsequent pull back, there is NO good in publishing them. If they were released for the families to view, we all know some media outlet would get ahold of them and put them on TV. Senseless information...!

You must have absolutely no heart. How would you feel if it were your child? You couldn't possibly understand their pain. They need to go away? They're trying to make sense of what happened, why their kids had to die. I think this judge that is trying to order these records sealed is stupid. He says he doesn't want copy cats, but it's a bit too late for that. The media already gave enough info on this years ago to where "re-creating" this tragic event would be easy for any kid that has even thought about doing what they did. These parents deserve to see this, the public deserves to see this. Then maybe we all can reach a deeper understanding of what caused this all to happen and these parents can all move on.

If the columbine parents want to have these videos released, it should be up to them. I cannot even imagine the pain these people are going through. Leave them alone.

It is about time out Government stood up to the people of the USA. We walk around with our heads in the clouds thinking that nothing is going to hurt our little world,,, because we are smart.

Problem is although many of us are educated, we fail to see the whole big picture, and blame the government for everything.

Horray for Sheriff Mink and Judge Babcock. it is about time we had people in public office who make a decision, popular or not, and most of all STICK WITH IT!.

Those basement tapes, from what I understand, have nothing more to add. We know why Harris and Klebold did what they did and we know how. What good could come from re-opening the wounds that have, for some, started to heal. I think it's time to put it to rest. The judge, at the time, did what he thought was best, and is still doing so. Copy cat work is prevelant - I praise him for the decision. I'm sorry for the families that lost kids at Columbine, but after 8 years, let them rest in peace.

Brad, you truly are a joke. If you remember LAPD SWAT sent a contingent out to Columbine shortly after the shootings. They concluded that based on the information that the SWAT teams had at Columbine they would have done the exact same thing. Brad, please quit talking out your ass.
