Don and Prudy, thank you for your letter. It states exactly how other feel who are in Van Nuys, and part of CD2, and was ignored. Uniqueness of CD2 is its boundaries. Pay attention to CD2 election because the person who pulled the application is in the race. Can you imgaine what might happen next, if the seat is won.

Wendy Gruel lauded for fairness. Ms. Gruel listened to sound evidence that the Orange Line severly cut off this nighborhood from Van Nuys - effectively putting a wall between Van Nuys and the affected neighborhood, forcing them to become (once again as history notes) an active Sherman Oaks neighbor. To reduce the argument to greed is simply wrong, unjust, and sadly ignorant of the motives of the cause.

The Nobama health care plan is NOT about being able to get health care IT IS about health care coverage.
These ridiculous numbers about the millions of uninsured Americans is a smoke screen.
How many Americans working at the local gas station
or burger restaurants (making $8 an hour) will even
pay $100 a month to be insured.
I can guarantee you no illegal will spend $250 a month "to have health care insurance", for their families, when they get it for free now.
This is the MAJOR reason for this problem.
This con is about offering insurance to be bought to pay for health care.
All make sure "payment is made" so unions like E.S.I.U. can continue to collect their salaries and buy more democrat politicians to continue their raises.
See the cycle.
Vote them out

I really can't understand why our governor is so intent on balancing our budget on the backs of the poor.
He is against taxing the oil companies and tobacco companies, but has no problems taking money away from the poor.
He will not compromise on his positions but expects the democrats to be his "yes" men, almost like our former president Bush.
I wouldn't attend any budget meetings with him for that reason alone.
I only wish it were possible for we voters to watch the budget meetings on tv instead of them being held behind closed doors.
Of course if we could hear what is being said Iam sure the governor would not come out smelling very good.

IF the governor of California was the head of a large corporation, and ran it the way he does our state, he would have been fired a long time ago.

Well, the notion that government should be run like a business is fantasy. A manager of a business hires a hand picked team and can simply fire those who disagree with policy. That is not the case with an elected government. A Governor has no say over who serves in the Legislature, the voters choose that team, and has no authority to fire legislators who disagree with a Governor's policy choices. The Governor is stuck with the Legislators the voters choose and must find common ground with political enemies to accomplish anything worthwhile. This hard fact of political life requires a Governor or any legislative leader to be a completely different sort of person than the notional hard charging Type A personality one imagines to populate board rooms and the managerial suites of the corporate world. A productive leader in a popularly elected government has to be able to facilitate compromise, not dictate terms.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
