Popeye's Chop House: Take a drive to rustic St. Rose restaurant

'We serve people what we like to eat,' said owner Dwight Rutz, 55, as server Casey Mosby brought out a platter with a 16-ounce steak filet and scorpion salmon stuffed with a cream cheese filling.

The restaurant opens at 4 p.m. today, Father's Day.

Drive past green pastures and farmhouses on St. Rose Road (just north of U.S. 50) until you see a building with tan siding and smell the aroma of beef being grilled. Read more

On our last visit from New Jersey, we had the pleasure and most enjoyable meal at Popeye's. It sure was worth the trip and we suggest that you should also stop in for a meal anytime you are in the neighborhood. We plan to stop in again this summer when we will again be in the St. Rose area.

Great food, pleasant atmosphere. Today is our 41st wedding anniversary and we're going to Popeye's for dinner. Highly recommend.

Is that the same Rutz that was in the band Epic in the 70's?
