Review: Asian Academy Of Tae KWON Do

The exercise was decent, but the actual application of self defense techniques are not as effective as other martial arts.

Among the instructors:

1) Greg has more integrity than the others at the Asian Academy; however, he allows certain female instructors to rule over him.

2) Elizabeth is VERY LOUD, does and has the propensity to yell at students.

3) Teresa's program is KS Lee's program regarding forms self-defense, etc. KS Lee is Teresa's former master instructor. Teresa at times has made some unkind remarks concerning KS Lee, yet, she is virtually following the program he taught. The program is more tailored to children.

The kicking techniques are pretty good; however, the self-defense is lacking.

Master Edwards is a fantastic instructor. As is Master Greg. They have a great relationship between students as well as instructors. Greg works for Master Teresa but I do not see him as being ruled by anyone. As far as Master Lee's Program, it is not. Master Lee did not create the forms, ho sin sools or one steps, they have been around for thousands of years and all schools use the same ones depending on the style of Tae Kwon Do. It is geared toward children which makes it a wonderful place to take my kids. However there are a lot of families there as well that enjoy training together. Master Edwards worked for KS Lee for years when she left he tried to rent her space out from under her, I know many of his former students and instructors.

I have taken TKD under KS Lee and Teresa AND VIRTUALLY THE ONE STEP SELF DEFENSE AND THE HON SIN SOOL ARE THE VERY SAME TECHNIQUES TAUGHT AT BOTH ACADEMIES - PERIOD. NO ONE SAID THAT KS LEE CREATED THE FORMS, ONE STEPS, OR HON SIN SOOL. TO THAT END, THE PROGRAM AT THE ASIAN ACADEMY CLOSELY FOLLOWS KS LEE'S. YES, TERESA TOLD THE SAME STORY TO A LOT OF PEOPLE REGARDING "KS LEE TRIED TO RENT THE HER SPACE FROM UNDER HER." SHE ALSO ASSERTED THAT HE RAN INTERFERENCE WITH HER DATING LIFE. I KNOW THAT THE PROGRAM IS TAILORED TOWARD CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES VIRTUALLY NO REALISTIC FORM OF RESISTANCE TRAINING WHICH IS VITAL TRAINING FOR ACTUAL COMBAT.

This academy is ok if you want to say you just have a black belt in something as far as developing real skills, YOU WONT
as the instructors go
1. teresa has good technique but doesnt teach worth a wood nickle
2. paul who is teresas husband is TERRIBLE he sucks the worst out of them all and is a cop and brings that with him everywhere he is not family friendly at all nor does he have good teaching skills
3. Elizabeth is loud and has a serious complex/problem with anyone who has a black belt and is better than her
4. Greg is this old man with enough time in to have a 4th degree nothing of his skill says 4th degree and yes he is a weak spineless pushover
