US Senate to VOTE Tuesday on Healthcare Reform
We’ve reached another critical time when again an all out effort is needed to stop the Senate version of ‘government run health care’.
A grassroots effort was successful in July in stopping passage of a House of Representatives government health care option (HR3200) prior to the August break because people like you and me rose up, took a stand and went to work!
Without that outcry from the American people, the bill would have sailed through the House and reached ‘stage one’ in the effort to ram that awful 1,000+ page bill down the throats of the American people in just days.
You knew that was just the opening shot in the first battle among several battles to come before the whole idea of ‘government run’ health care is permanently defeated, so we can then get started addressing some real solutions in reforming our health care system that includes the free market ... solutions such as interstate competition among private health insurance companies, outcome based rewards for medical professionals, tort reform, etc.!
The Senate vote is set for Tuesday 10-13-09 and the 19 “moderate” Senators athttp://www.usoracle.net/us-s enators-moderates/ need to be contacted by everyone—even those who do not reside in the states these Senators represent. THESE 19-SENATORS ARE THE CRITICAL ‘SWING’ VOTES! Your efforts and the efforts of people you know in contacting each one of these Senators between now and Tuesday can make the difference between success and failure. Here are the two specific things you can do and what your friends, acquaintances and relatives can do:
• First think of anyone you know in any of the states in which these 19-Senators reside and send them this message or the above link and ask them to call, write and email (all three) the key Senator in their state and encourage their “NO” vote in this crucial votenext Tuesday. This is the most important thing you can do if know people in any of these states because Congressional members listen more closely to their own constituents —those who have the power to fire them![THINK OF WHO YOU KNOW IN Maine, Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, N. Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Montana and Wyoming]
• Second, do your own calling, writing and emailing to each of these Senators (do all three)! Don’t pretend you’re one of their resident constituents; just let them know in your own words how you feel about the “government option”. But here is what will give weight to your calls, letters and emails and it’s important that you make this point firmly in each correspondence: let them know that if they fail to vote no in this crucial vote on Tuesday, you will do everything in your power to see that they are defeated when they next stand for reelection….including contributing to their opponent, working to organize neighborhood walks, volunteer to work in phone banks, etc..
Thank you for helping in this crucial effort! Remember – it’s all about numbers! This is going to take a few hours on each of our parts between now and Tuesday, but if you realize that this government run health care legislation is the gateway legislation to massive, onerous government control, it becomes clear that this is much more than a health care bill ... it’s a government “control” bill; and if Congress finally passes this legislation I can tell you that you won’t recognize this country in 10-years and you will likely have to apologize to your grandchildren for not doing what you could to stop it!
Remember this: The two most important things for most politicians are these: to get elected and to get reelected! These targeted efforts on our parts can actually make the difference.Rick Eisenbach,
