I DO watch my children, however its impossible to 'keep an eye on them' all the time nor is it possible to 'keep them at home' 24/7

Since this post, almost a YEAR ago Ive been letting my (teenage) kids go to the rink, they love it and Im convinced the owners keep the kids safety a major priority.

Well,I keep my eye on mine 24/7 and she will never ever under any circumstances leave my supervision, unless it is with another responsible adult. My mother never ever let me leave the house and I be if mine does.

Liar liar pants on fire!! LMAO How old is she? Do you take her with you to go pee? Does she go to school? Seriously, theres no way humanly possible you keep her under your supervision 24/7 and if you believe that you are dilusional.

**if your mother never ever let you leave the house, HOW did you manage to have a daughter?

I beg your pardon but my daughter isnt in school yet and for your info she is always with me. My mother never let me leave the house either. Thats why I didn't get married until later in life then i had a kid. She was just doing what was best for me and I am glad, otherwise no telling how I would of ended up.

Clearly we are comparing apples to oranges. Im talking about teenagers while you are speaking of babies who wouldnt be going to the rink anyway. When you have a teen of your own maybe then you could offer advice on how to properly raise them.

sorry, but I remember that when I was a teenager the only time that I was away from my mother was during school and when I worked. She took me to school, picked me up and took me to work and picked me up. If she had to go somewhere I had to tag along. I never went to any friends houses either. The first time that I finally got away from home I was 17 turning 18 and thats just because I decided to leave, which was a bad decision cause I found out want was out there.

Sounds like you had a miserable teenage life. Its not surprising you left home so early and while still a minor. Parents who guard their children like that are going over board. While I agree teens need to be supervised I do not believe they should be smothered. There has to be a middle ground going too far either way can be detrimental to the child.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a type business someone could open where the kids (teens)could go to have fun that would be profitable enough to keep the doors open? I'm not talking about making a killing with profits I mean enough to pay the bills? A place that could be supervised by an attendant or two and try to keep out the alcohol and drugs.

I too went to the skating rink as a teen, but teens today (most of them) think they are too old to go to the skating rink. My teens (15 and 16) used to go there every friday night but now they 'think' they are to mature for it.

What do you think?

Is it a decent & reasonably safe place for kids to go on the weekends?
yes, im a teenager who goes there on occasions and i love it! there's food, games (on rink and off), and even a phone booth your kid can use if there is any trouble. Violence is hard to come by in Carthage, but the only thing that might ever appear in the rink is a little drama most likely from b/f g/f problems. There's hardly anything that goes wrong there, so if you like it so far then i would advise going.-hope you like it or well your kids like it... shoot its even a place for parents if you wouldnt mind embarrassing your kids lol :)

ha!!! im 15 and your kids if you have any would hate you (no affence) to be locked up and sheltered in a house! my parents are like that too but they still let me go to the skating rink there's not even a ounce of violence in the whole place! there may come drama time to time but thats what we do day to day at school listen if you cant let your kids go out to a superviced place and haave a little free time what happens when they turn 18 and want to go to college?
