Young people keep dying around here

Why are so many young people over dosing or killing themselves around here? Life is an adventure, you just have to embrace whatever little bit of something that makes you happy. It doesn't matter how many bills there are to pay or how many issues you may have.....you only get one chance at life, if you don't like yours dont turn to drugs and turn into a worthless zombie, you miss the greatest things in life when your high, don't kill your self, you are important, someone loves you and ending all your chances at any kind of life makes no sense to me. What can we do as a community to turn around the morale here in Carroll county? People aren't happy. Sometimes it's the smallest things that can make someone's day, week or year! If we all pay it forward, with kindness instead of judgement we can help each other! Please, I can't stand hearing about another 21 year old kid overdosing or some sad women shooting herself! I feel like I could have helped somehow even though I didn't know either one. It makes me sad how mean people have become here and I believe it all stems from a negative environment. Any ideas people?

Very good post. However, I think if you will re-read it, you will find your answer. Even though I don't believe for one minute you meant any hurtful words, you did refer to any drug user as a worthless zombie. 99% of the drug free community and MANY drug users are calling names such as worthless, deadbeat, bottom feeders, etc. Sooner or later addicts finally start believing this about themselves. With your post, it's obvious you are one of those who could build confidence up for an addict. It may seem like a small thing to do, but with great rewards. Thank you for taking the time to let them know they are worth something and can re-build. Just takes a few kind words, a little hope for them, and someone like you to speak them. Yes, I don't usually have a way with words, I have seen people high and they are not themselves at all and zombie was the closest way to describe it. Anyway, I reach out to someone each day, it's easy when we all come in Contact with strangers every time we leave our homes and how we react to people is all that matters. I run into some of the best people ever here and had I not held the door for them or bs's in line at Kroger I would never had met them. Like I said its the small stuff that makes us feel god too.
