Everyone in my family is fat. They all have had diabetes and heart attacks. Most of the men are alcoholics. No drugs for the most part but definitely alcohol. And everyone smoked cigarettes growing up. So yeah, it runs in my family, it's in my genes.

I could have easily started drinking in middle school high school or college. I could have used it as a crutch. To this day, sure i could drink, get high etc, i am sure i could find a way. I could let genetics get the best of me and give in to something I know I am prone to because it runs in my family. I choose not to.

I choose not to drink, I choose not to smoke I choose to exercise. I choose to eat well and try my best to maintain my health, despite the genes I was born with. I choose to make good decisons for my family and for my health.

Like gives is circumstances but we make our own choices.

is there a place that drug addicts can get help if they dont have insurance? just wandering?

Missfedemp- yes the healing place in louisville is one, you can walk in anytime and they will help. Also you can google and find more places if you like. Just google free rehab center or no cost recovery places for drug addiction. Hope this helps!

Good advice. Healing place is great.

If you only knew how some drugs grab ahold of ya and don't let go. Just have to try it one time and that's it.

not every one is strong enough to deal with every day promblems so they try drugs to deal... get hooked and its hard to get out after ur hooked.... if u anit been there u have no clue....i know first hand that the withdraws alone is worse then havin a baby with nothing... at the time i rather died then go threw them your whole body akes your whole body has hot flashes u cant sleep or eat u stay in the bathroom either throwin or or sh******. And the whole time all u think of is drugs to make all this to stop.. you people act like its so easy but u have no clue because if u really have been there u know its not...Some oeople dont know any other way to deal with things, I started at a young age fisrt it was jus lil thing my parent spliting up that got me started they helped me cope so harder things got the more id do..and in this town all every one wants to do is put these people down so they have no where to turn...ur right u cant help then intill they want to be helped. iv been clean for 5years now and i feel like a new person.. i still have lots of friends that have a problems with drugs i talked to then all they time and they tell me how they wish they could stop or pay for tretment its jus not as easy as u all think

You guys say that drugs grab you in or whatever. Maybe the trick to that would be to not have started doing them to begin with. I know the addict that overdosed in pville in April. That piece of trash didn't get any kind of jail time from that. As a matter a fact he had assault charge because he beat the hell out of his kids mom. The state dropped the charges because he overdosed and what do you know hes back on drugs. SURPRISE! What the hell has this came to? Why aren't these people behind bars? I know that they're sick I know they have a problem but you can't help people that don't want help. If they wanted help they would go to the free clinics and get the help. I don think we should get on here and put names all that does is make unnecessary drama but if you know where this stuff is going in at there is an anonymous number where you can report it.

I have lived in Carrollton just about my whole life, I have seen the phases of drugs come through. The pot, MDA, cocaine and now prescription pills and Heroin even fake pot and bath salts! None are acceptable. Have seen people give up jobs, homes and children to chase the BUZZ, but it never stops just gets worse.People lie and steal whatever it takes to get the next high! What a terrible existance the last thing on your mind before you go to sleep and the first when you wake up and all hours in between. The addicts are a joke, no one believes a word out of their mouths, cant be trusted, and are laughed at there is no PRIDE or Self Respect! How can you let yourself get that low? I have no pity, tired of hearing all the lame excuses for why they give away their kids, steal from the people they love, and loose any thing worth living for!

Anyone that would laugh and make fun of a drug addict is WORSE then the drug addict. It will come back to visit them one day.

People kill me in this town how you sit there on your computer and talk bad about drug addicts! I understand not liking them for stealing thing and ect. but how are you any better to judge someone. These addicts are someones mom, dad, son, daughter ect. Yes you have to want help to get help, and yes they need to go to jail for doing drugs. Any of you on here smoke ciggs? Well if you do stop smoking! I bet that 90% of you all couldn't. It not that easy to STOP! Dont talk crap if you don't know anything about the DISEASE!!!!!

its not a disease its a choice, cigs dont get u locked up unless u steal them for your drugs. THE DRUGGIES ARE THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEM, NOT THE REST OF US THAT DONT USE. GET A BETTER CLUE.

How can you even compare a drug addiction to a disease? Drug addiction-something that was brought on yourself that stems from a weak mind that you didn't want control of. Diease-like cancer or a type of medical condition that you had no control over.
I smoke but I have no problem putting them down and infact I don't smoke everyday I am not dependent upon it and don't need it. Message addiction is for weak minded people we see it each and everyday. Get over the self pitty people addicts die because they refuse to take control people with a diease die because they don't have control. You bought the drug you used it and the person with the diease didn't do anything to get it. Simply put

O dang I didn't know all of the on here were Doctors. If you go to a rehab or a clinic and listen to the real doctors you will find that addiction/addicts is a disease. Everyone is allowed their own opinion. But I think everyone should keep en open mind until you have experienced it.

Shouldn't be so weak minded. I have several drug addicts in my family and I tell them the same thing. If you want to do something you do if you don't want to do something then you don't what is so hard about that? You want to make 7.25 all your life or you want a better paying job than you take the steps to do that is called in control. Honestly the weaker minded ones will not agree but who is in charge of your life? If there are things that you need to have help with that have been to hard to handle than deal with it that way and with the professionals don't look for a drug dealer and don't create a pain and run to the doctor and get your needs met that way. It makes the insurance go to an unafordable rate for us that work for our living and have insurance. Even makes the free government insurance hard to get for the ones that really need it. You are right we are all allowed to have our own opinion just as we are allowed to have our own life and to be in charge of it. I urge you to take charge of yours and to help someone that isn't. That does not mean to be the enabler for them. Whatever the reason is for saying or thinking that an addiction is a diease must have had the pleasure of not having to look into someones eyes when they can't beat the cancer which is the true real diease. But of course it's to hard to face the real facts so run and hide and get your fix the same ol way. And to the ones who want to take up for them and turn your head and say they have a diease good luck when your told that yourself or a loved one has a diease a true diease which they had no control over. But I guess they don't have control over going to the dealer or the doctor and taking prescribed medicine the way your told to. Crush it smoke it take a handful then maybe you will feel in control.

Weak minded? I am not a Dr but due to the fact I have neurological issues myself, I HAVE been studying the anatomy and physiology of the brain for 7 years now. I have also studied all avenues of cancer due to the fact I had a child with cancer ! So here it is. Just as cancer cells lay dormant in your body, then become active, there are malfunctions in the brain that do leave you open for drug addiction. Someimes, "choice" plays no part in it. There are BRAIN INJURIES that leave the same effect on your brain. Like it or not, those are the facts!!

Self control and accept thet you are responcable for your self and your actions. The weak always blame others because then they are not at fault.
