Grand jury will hear Amy Yates case

I know Jean Gossett.. This woman has been through hell. The media has camped out across the street from her house. This whole mess is making her sick. I hope for her and her families sake this will be over soon. When ever she speaks of Amy it is with love. She really misses Amy. I hope the truth comes out, about who really killed Amy. Everyone needs to know what really happened and to find peace.

You may "know" Jean Gossett via posts and emails, but you don't live here. There are always TWO sides to every story and you are only getting one. Maybe if the parents of the other boy had time to sit and post comments all day, you would get the other side.(BTW: I live in Carroll County, GA) Do YOU know what happened? Were you there? No.
It's okay to say let's have sympathy for all those involved, but to say "everyone needs to know what really happened" is very ignorant. Because YOU don't even know.

It looks as if the Police worked on the O.J. Simpson case also.

I know Thomas and Sherri Yates and they deserve to have justice too. They lost a child. They will never have her back. Even if Chris is found guilty his parents will still have him. You are right, there are 2 sides of every story but rather than attack the side I do not agree with I will refrain from my comments on the Gossett family. I will say that the Yates Family did not deserve this or any of the other comments the public is making regarding them being victims. They ARE victims. I hope when the person who did this goes to sleep every night they think of the Yates family and the emptiness they feel every day, all because of a selfish act of violence. For the record, I live in Carrollton Georgia.

It is so easy to see that Chris gossett killed this little girl the police bulled a confession out of the first boy so they could get home to dinner on time you know how pissed your sister can get after slaving over a hot stove all day how sad that the cops/the DA/the judge would rather let a little boy sit in jail a rap sheet that will follow him forever let a murder go free to kill again but who cares he will just kill more trailer trash any way what cowards how dare you but that badge on every morning!!!!!!!!

Does anyone else have any information about this? Why do you say she is so sick? I am very interested in this case. I saw it one 20/20 and my heart goes out to the Yates family.

My heart goes out to the three families that will never be the same. I cannot say that I understand what the Yate family is feeling because I cannot, I have 3 sons and losing one of them, well, I just cannot imagine. I can only say to Tom is to try to forgive, God has a way of doing things, we just need to remember that He is always working and even though we may not see or understand the reason at this time, He does and that is what we must look at and please, Tom, please find forgiveness in your heart. My heart goes out to Johnathon and Chris, Johnaton for what you have gone through in your short life and Chris, anyone that has a heart can see that Chris does not know what he is doing and he cannot understand the world as it is, heck, we, ourselves have a hard time understanding this world. If Chris is placed in a regular prison, what will others do to him? Would you place a 9 year old boy in with a pack of wolves? Not if you have a heart, what would Amy Yates say? I never met her but I am sure that she had a heart of gold and she would not have wanted for this little boy in a man's body to face this. If one thinks that she would want this for this child, then you really missed out on what we all can see in Amy's eyes.

As the previous post, my heart goes out to all 3 families involved, especially the Yates and Adams.

It really angers me that the police were allowed to interrogate a scared 12 year old child without video or audio recording. It is clear to me they bullied him into a confession and I hope who did this lie in bed each night with how they have affected this boy for the rest of his life.

Hopefully the county had to pay Johnathan and his family restitution for the 2 years of torment they suffered, if not, I recommend the family to seek counsel.

May God be with Amy's family as we know she is at peace and I pray Johnathan is able to overcome what he was put through.

Check out Topix Offbeat. Mommy of 4 Jean Gossett spends half her life on Topix. Just think if a parent would spend half the amount of time caring for her family how they might all be less violent.

oh God this whole thing is such a sad mess. If those cops coercered a false confession from a 12 yr old child they should be charged with a serious crime, thats just frightening!! My heart aches for Amy & her parents. She has the same dark eyes as my youngest child, its heartbreaking.~ R I P darling girl ~

Chris Gossett is Inbreed

My heart goes out to all three families. I know the police were tyring to do their job, but interrogating a 12 yo without his parents present was apalling. Since their interrogation practices were less than ethical, I have a hard time believing Chris Gossett confessed 2 yrs after the fact. God only knows what was said to this kid off the video camera. We all want justice, but not at the cost of taking away the life of what could be an innocent person.
Does anyone know what has become of this case? I have googled it without much of an update. I even contacted a good friend from Carrolton GA who couldn't tell me much more.

I was wondering the same thing. Tried googling after seeing an old episode of Dateline on the ID Network about 15 minutes ago.

In my short time trying to look it up I can't find anything beyond 2007.

I just watched a repeat of this case on ID, and I am a huge fan of Dateline, but the more I watch these cases the more I realize that our justice system is Fu@!ed up!!! I absolutely feel terrible for Amy and her family. This boy should not be allowed to be part of society. Chris is not a lovable giant; he is not only murderer, but also a mental case. His family needs to get him help. I thank God that I live in a state where people are open minded. Every time I watch a case which takes place in the south I notice people are so quick to convict. The police have a detailed confession from Chris, but yet they are so ignorant to see the truth that they are still accusing the first boy. I ask myself how they rest their heads easy at night. Is it so hard to admit your wrong??? As for Chris's mother, she also needs to face the truth that her son is a murderer!!! If he is convicted and completes his sentence his parents have the obligation to get him intense counseling. I find it disgraceful, and this is not the only case where justice was not served due to police negligence. This is only one out of a million!!! I watch these type of stories everyday, and almost half of them are not ethical. You are not innocent until proven guilty, you are guilty until proven innocent.

I hope that fat ugly sin chris gossett sits in jail for the rest of his life, the only words to describe that kid is piece of shit
