I remember when the French Bar tried this back in the mid 90s. Gravity, hills and a broken arm put an end to that experiment. Glad to see Darwin brought them back.

Hydraulic breaks ??
Gimme a brake! |

Big bad boob, your SUV is going to destroy your bank account tough guy. Then you'll be hailing the first pedicab that rolls by. |

You're gonna be glad these cabs are around one day real soon when you find out you can't afford to run that gas hog. SUV's are gonna go the way of the dinosaur, and real soon. Just look at the used car lots of the new car dealers in town. They can't give the darn things away! So don't be jumping ugly with this young woman who has seen a need and is attempting to fill it. You'll probably be one of the first to flag her down for a lift!! |

Why are you twits always worrying about those of us who drive SUV's? We don't need your advice, but you just keep yapping. MYOB for a change. |
|
This is cool! I'll hop on the first one I see.
BTW, you folks complaining about traffic downtown need to sloooow down any way! Have some respect for your fellow Man. |

Oh, and the comment about "Hydraulic breaks ??
Gimme a brake!" Did you mean to spell it that way? Could have been a funny, but any ways, hydraulic breaks are in standard use on high end off road and on heavy high end tandem bikes these days. They're very practical for bike applications and are just what these things will need when coming down a hill with some folks in the back. |

Slavery is being brought back by a black women, who thinks it's great.
In case she doesn't know it, this type of transportation is considered degrading and is manual labor reserved for hundreds if not thousands of years only for poor, uneducated people in most all Asian countries |
|
I personally will never ride one of these things, for one thing I don't have a superiority complex. It's degrading to the pedelars/pullers. |

This might make it eight months. They will do pretty well during the summer, but remember they can't go into street festivals any more than cars can.
Come cold weather business will dry up and they will have to store the rickshaws. That is expense without income. They will lose their employees due to lack of work. Next spring, if they haven't closed already. They will have to hire all new staff, and incur those expenses. It will be like opening all over again, and any business owner will tell you opening a new business is the most expensive time. You eco weenies enjoy them now, Mark my words, they will not be back next year. |

Felicia is the owner, so it can't be slavery, or even jokingly made out to seem that way.
What I would like is some real information. How many rickshaws? How many employees? Do they have storage facilities? What are they charging per mile or trip? Is their a door fee like with cabs? I am hoping for the best for an enterprising young woman. I would like some information, so I can better understand the viability of the service. |

I hope the woman is successful, and I admire her for doing "something". I don't think this is going to be a year-round business. As for myself, and each of us has an opinion, I'm not going to let someone pull me around when I'm perfectly able to walk and enjoy doing so. Just not my nature. I'm sure there are tourists who would enjoy the experience, and I DO hope things work out well for her.

Ooooh.... I wouldn't want to do anything considered degrading. Almost any manual labor is considered degrading in this country: walking, bicycling, building something useful instead of going to a gym to exercise our fat selves, etc. If the pedi drivers in Asia had decent food and health care, they'd live to be 100. They are so strong. |

Streets are for cars, sidewalks are for 'my fellow man' so stay out of the streets, and I won't drive on the sidewalks. |
