Perkins is a great little town!

Perkins, OK is a great little town. We have an excellent school system and friendly people. We are nicely located near Stillwater and are only an hour away from Tulsa or Oklahoma City. That gives us the advantage of small town living with the benefits of city life just minutes away.

Have some great memories of Perkins during the "50"s. My brother in law was the band director at the time. I used to spend summers with my sisters family there and met some really nice kids. Perkins at that time had the best band ever. A real show band.

I completely disagree! If I could go back and do it all over again I'd have never bought my house in Perkins. There is nothing there! The entire town shuts down at 9:00pm sharp, except for the Sonic, which can't get an order right to save their life even after a 30min wait. If you want anything after 9pm you are forced to drive the 12miles to Stillwater and then the 12miles back. With gas prices that makes a pretty expensive run to the store if you ask me. If you want groceries you have to go to Stillwater anyways because everything is overpriced at the town grocery store. I nearly paid $5 for a gallon of milk one time when it was barely over $3 in Stillwater. It's ridiculous that I should pay that much extra, especially since half the time they don't have what you are looking for. Perkins just raised their sewage prices without caring how it affects their citizens. I now cannot afford my water/sewage bill, when I could before. I have my questions about the school system as well. When I was in school they taught me to look both ways before I crossed the street. I can't even drive to my house without nearly hitting at least two kids that are walking down the middle of the street! Yes, there are a lack of sidewalks throughout the town, but even still, the middle of the street isn't the smartest place to walk. My list goes on and on.

Perkins is far from great, believe you me. Move somewhere like Mustang, Yukon, or Moore and you'll realize just how great you DON'T have it.
