As a non resident of GreenTree let me first say how I love coming to GreenTree park for little league baseball games/tourneys. The parents here are always so nice. The people working the concessions are very nice. Everything makes you feel right at home when you go there and THAT IS TO BE COMMENDED!!!!Kudos to the people that make it work there!
With that said, in the last 4 yrs or so that I have visited time and time again, including earlier this evening, I have noticed a not so kind trend with the Police department there. When I first started going there I'd see the police drive through the lots next to the ball fields and I thought: wow, nice to see they even care enough to drive around and make sure everything and everyones vehicles are secure. How nice. But unfortunately I began to realize that wasn't the reason. The Green Tree police literally are driving through to see who's parking on grass!!!! And writing citations for it! Now I've never parked on the grass, BUT I do see many times, because of all of the fields and other options at the park, when they have baseball/softball tournaments for all little leagu ages/gender or even all of the fields being used at once, parking is at a premium.
I watched today as an officer pulled through and cited cars that lined up perfectly, bot blocking anything on the edge of the grass due to all the spaces being filled. This isn't the first time. So I walk closer to watch this officer do this for 15 mins. MEANWHILE, while he's doing this I'm seeing people clearly running the red lights and speeding up near the school, and a group of kids walked by on nearby Green Tree road smoking weed in broad daylight, all while he's doing this! I'm thinking: you really don't have anything better to do? Really? People are surely breaking more severe laws while you're concentrating on this garbage! Parents/Kids are at these events having a good time enjoying themselves not causing problems. Nobody blocked in, nobody blocking the aisle ways and YOU ARE THAT CONCERNED ABOUT THIS?
A very big continuous disappointment not only for this Police Dept, but people in general who's priorities can be so dumb founded sometimes. If I'm these officers I wouldn't be caught wasting my time ever with that nonsense without much needed cause. EVER. In fact I'd be embarrassed to do that to someone.
So my question is Why? In the mid summer where I'm certain you can make larger busts or arrests for more harsh things, why are you doing this to people at a park? I was actually kind of disgusted watching this today for the "umpteenth" time. Relax a little, my goodness. I just think it's ridiculous and wasted manpower or time spent. It was so stupid it reminded me of the kid who was hall monitor in grade school an when he caught somebody he just thought he was so big and bad over something so dumb and he actually looked foolish carrying the punishment out. I felt bad for these people who were clearly upset. And I can't blame them!'
Anyone else know about this?
