I don't understand the controversy over this ban...we are talking about the health and welfare of the citizens. Why are som many persons here including Councilman DiCicco's disregard for the health of the citizens here in Philadelphia. Smoking kills people and second hand smoke kills...the stupid debate over a known killer is beyond me. Why are some of these persons fighting this ban for bring Philadelphia down...do something good for your city and the citizens. This is something that could lead to a healthier lifestyle and a healthier city to live and work...what gives.

Do something right for the citizens and set an example for the youth of this city...smoking has no place anymore and has not for many years in public places of any type. There is so many cons about smoking...like cancer...death...heart disease...lung disease. So why not pretend you care and think about the future of this city and it's youth.

looks like these persons don't have a valid reply...the smoking ban is not unlike when the drunk driving laws came into play and the bar owners could end up being responsible. Maybe the bar owners or owners of public spaces could be sued by persons suffering the effects of second hand smoke. Remember the debate over cutting off persons for drinking to much and then sending these persons out of the bars and into automobles...these same bar owners were not concerned about drunk driving related deaths or injuries only about a loss in sales...so what does this tell you about these persons in our government and these bar owners fighting this ban...it's about money in thier pockets not about the so called rights of the citizens. Oh yeah, I have heard the argument many times don't go there if you don't want to be around smoke...I guess persons should not walk the streets or drive if they don't want to be a victim of a drunk driver...get it right for once you all know that the smoking ban is the right thing to do...set an example for the youth and make this a complete smoking ban.
