Underwood needs to go...

How many more chances should we give this administration to completely hose elementary boundaries? If the next grade school construction project doesn't include an extra room or two to accommodate future, certain growth, especially on the west side, it should not be approved.

How hard is it to look at an empty field within the city limts and figure out that pretty soon there will be houses built with grade school kids that live in them?

And by the way, I'm OK with cafeteria furniture that doesn't match, as long as we can spend the savings on smaller class size.
Get with it

Maybe some of the parents who are in the neighborhoods remaining at Carmel Elementary should step up and volunteer more often. FIve plus years ago these three neighborhoods that are proposed to be moved were not at Carmel Elementary, what did they do then?

What this is about is some very arrogant PTO mothers who don't want to lose their positions and believe that if their kids are removed from Carmel Elementary the school will be "destroyed." Actually, the school's scores would barely change. Of course, these moms would no longer be the officers in the PTO--others would get a chance.
The school administrators have again made a decision that is in the best interest of the entire school district and have not bowed to a bunch of know it all moms who think they are better than everyone else at Carmel Elementary because they live in slightily more expensive houses.

Hey Abigail, you've got it backwards. The family's who remain at Carmel Elementary don't want these families redistricted because they are the volunteers. These families leaving mean that others need to step up. It's NOT that parents are going to lose PTO positions because these are the type of people who will volunteer at their new schools.

Well Abigail bad news, Board voted 4-1 on not changing, so the elitist moms get to keep their posistions instead of looking at what is best for the kids.

Jay, get your facts straight. First, if you were half way informed, you'd realize that these "PTO" moms WERE looking after the kids...it was through their fundraising efforts that allowed money to be spent on extra tutoring, clothes, coats and shoes, field trips, etc. for the kids in their school. Federal money can't be directed toward many of the things that these kids need! These PTO moms could have sent their kids to a school with more amenities and certainly a nicer, newer building. They chose to stay to make sure that enough support (fundraising and volunteerism) existed to help ALL the kids in the school. So, give me a break on this being about keeping PTO positions. Most would gladly rotate out after a year...too bad there's never a long line of people begging to replace them. With comments like yours, who'd want to serve?

Just wondering?????? Where are the parents who live in Foster Estates, Laura Vista, and Danbury planning to send their kids next year now that we may have a choice? Cherry Tree sounds to be a good situation. My kids deserve a school with plenty of space.
