UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH ) and Aetna (NYSE: AET ) both said they would stop offering individual policies in California, forcing 58,000 existing policyholders to seek alternatives.

Lovelace here in New Mexico is doing the same thing. My friend got a letter saying they r canceling all existing individual policies as of Dec 31. The letter even says its due to Obamacare. I believe in making healthcare affordable, but it should be illegal for these companies to cancel the policies of those who are actually paying for their insurance! Why inconvenience the responsible people who take their healthcare needs seriously?

So the rest of us need to pay for those that can't afford their insurance? Perhaps those people should have worked harder on a post education, a skilled trade etc. that way they would have higher in demand skills thus demanding higher wages and accordingly be able to afford said insurance.

Illegal? The new rules put forth by the Affordable Healthcare Act make it financially impossible for these companies to continue those policies. Doing so would literally put them out of business.

They are a for profit company. They owe it to their employees & shareholders to make sound business decisions. Thanks to Obamacare, it is no longer profitable to provide individual policies. This is the tip of the iceberg...socialist policies bring the greatest counties down.

Health care shouldn't be considered a right it is a luxury afforded by busting your butt and wanting something better for your life. There are some exceptions and I think we should help some people out. But not some arrogant woman like proudlatina who thinks it should just be handed out at the expense of the hardworking individuals in this country. I swear if you were in arms reach I would demolish your face just for being so freakin stupid. You don't deserve to be in this country, you are part of the problem.

I am quite sure that I am 10 times more educated than you. Especially on this particular subject. The fact that you responded with a grade school insult tells me all I need to know.

look mija....i agree with you in part on this...there should be the same availability to get healthcare when needed as everyone else...but just like buying groceries or going to the movies....if you dont have the money you cant buy it...and no government is going to solve the problem....no government is perfect and going to be able to take care of the people like we think they should....but Jesus promised that he would....and if we believe in the bible and what it says about Jesus wanting to take care of us and give us what we need then we have to realize what he was saying that to not expect it from governments...only from Jesus and his kingdom on earth as it is in heaven...the white people have a saying...the sqeeky wheel gets all the oil...that means that they will throw us a little if we complain enough but the problems we have in getting equality are not going to happen....for any race.....i am part hispanic and i feel discriminated at times but i have to just take a breath and realize that this life is not all there is....and complaining about it only makes your life miserable.....mira....if you go to a movie and someone is talking loud and pissing you off the whole movie....then you feel like you wasted your money and somebody better pay you your ticket back...right????...well thats the way life is.....if you go through life being loud and complaining through your whole life....not only does it make other people lose out worst of all YOU have lost out on enjoying the movie...the movie of life.....so my advice...just enjoy what we have and do the best you can for your kids and enjoy it....because in the new world order....there are not going to be any rich people....

No, but my friend says she's going down Mon to talk to an ins advisor to see what she can find! She's worried about how much more this is going to cost her, as she could hardly afford the almost $300 a month she was paying for just medical & perscription( this didnt include dental or visual!) Another of my friends has their kids on New Mexi kids ins with Lovelace & they are even dropping their state coverage. My friends got a letter from the state telling them this & that the state was having to switch them to Molina healthcare coverage. Guess Lovelace is streamlining their ins business! We'll see how else negative this bill is going to affect us!
