What is going on at Jr High? I thought this new principal was supposed to be strict. I hear all they have is fights over there and the majority of the time there are more subs there than real teachers. My child told me about two fights last week. My child says all he does is walk around with a paddle all the time. Obviously busting their bottoms isnt working maybe he should send them out to Success. Something needs to be done. If my child gets a paddling for a fight someone else started he and I are going to have some problems. I think he is very free with giving them out from what I hear.

Maybe they're possessed. Just kidding. Mr. Scarborough seems like he tries to be fair and can only go on what he's told and what he inquires about. Parents are responsible for disciplining their children as well as the school system.

I agree with the last post. It all starts at home. The school cant be blamed for fighting.

The school can be blamed for fighting, and it doesn't all start at home. I would never teach my child to deal with problems with his fist. As an adult, however, I'm not a large person and I know what it's like to be walked on with verbage and made a stepstool with seemingly no way to satisfy people despite valiant efforts-much less get them to listen to me. I don't recall ever throwing a punch at anyone in my life, but I have given an open invitation to someone twice my size to go on and hit me with their best shot-then if my damn jaw wasn't broke or worse-we'd have conversation later if it took that. Adults should realize-words and harrassment can be very damaging and should be considered with rationing out consequences. Words even moreso than throwing fists in my opinion because at least a person has a purple shiner and an ability to fight back sometimes when it's physical.

I agree that kids should try talking out there problems but we both know that sometimes that is not going to happen. Not all parents teach kids to do that. So, my children will know how to defend themselfs if it comes to that. I never bullied anyone but I did not let them walk all over me either. My children will not be bullies or doormats.

I hope none of them have to defend themselves. Not any real significant threats are there?

I don't belive that there is any threats. I hope that my kids don't have to defend themself either but I also know how mean kids are now. Even in small towns. Its not right but it happens and if the other kids thinks your a push over, they will pick on you worse. But if they think you will stand up for yourself, they are less like to pick on you. Don't get me wrong, if one of my kids ever swings first, they will be in more trouble than they could dream of. I will not have my kids picking on others.

I have alway told my kids that if they ever start a fight then the fights on at home. But if they are hit first then they are to defend themselves. There have been several fights at JR High lately and theyhave been disciplines by suspension. But to these kids that is just like getting a vacation from school. If these kids dont get the discipline at home then it doesnt matter how much the pricipal tries at school. Kids these days dont have any respect for each other. Whene we were in school I dont ever remember there being any fights at all. It all starts at home!

i remember being in a few fights, but I got my butt busted when I got home! Didn't matter if I started it or not. Dad always said to let the teacher handle it.

They are fighting all the time. I think it gets broke up before it gets started good. A few weeks ago there was one during morning assembly then another during lunch then last week one kid stabbed another one with a pencil.

A pencil stabbing is not good. Adults should keep a check on other items kids might want to bring to school.

there was another spat yesterday when one of the young children called a black child a f#### n word. this is rediculous. the black child walked away not wanting any problems and one of his friends punched the child. what are we teaching are children at home. our children should not be calling children out of there names and instigating. if i was the parent of the black child i would be raising cain. are children are not safe at school

The pricipal is doing what he can. Things are so different now than they were when we were in school. He doesnt take any crap from anybody. I dont think they should be suspended tho that is just a vacation for them. Make them stay in school in ISS or make them do work around the school. Take their athletics away from them.

Now that is a good idea. It wouldn't be a vacation for my kids. I would have a long list for them to do plus getting their butts busted.

You're swayed by your emotions today, making you susceptible to other people's machinations. Are you putty in the hands of your beloved? Are you willing to do whatever, just to keep the peace? Watch out for the influence of another's black mood, or you'll soon start to feel just as miserable. Fortunately this strange mood won't last long.
