Review: Gulf Coast Readers Inc

I did not order any magazines. This company sends mcagazines out, saying you ordered them. When you call to cancel they will not let you cancel. Then they try to bill your for 900.00 dollars. If this happens to you call the Better Business Bureau, in your State. Also inform the Attorney General. You can take the magazines to the post office, they can return them for you.. You can not do it from home but the post office can. It does no good to call the Gulf Coast Readers they will not let you cancel and they are RUDE AND ABUSSIVE.

Thanks for the warning. I got involved with a magazine scam about 20 years ago. They had mentally handicapped people going door to door. It was so sad that I bought a subscription. I was billed 4 times what they told me and there was no way to cancel.

From then on, if I ever wanted to read a magazine, I bought it from the store.

So just don't pay. What’s the problem? I mean I don’t care if they do this to me I’ll call them and thank them for the good read.

I absolutely despise door-to-door salesmen.(and jahovas witnesses) It is so ballsy to go to someones house selling crap.

If I want meat, magazines. vaccuum cleaners, girl scout cookies or God, I'll go buy them myself.

I wish I could put an invisible electric fence around my house. Stay away!

I'm with ya on the door to door crap. I just say no go away. Same with the phone.

I adopted 2 Pit Bull's for just that reason.

They were supposed to go to the door with teeth showing, crazy, psycho looks in their eyes and growling the growl from Hell.

That's how I had it pictured anyway.

The dumbasses just wag their tails so hard at them that their whole bodies are wagging....worthless. Good thing they're cute.

That’s too funny. Well there’s no argument about them being cute though. Maybe you can teach them to dig the holes instead.

Called GCR today May 2010. I was being charged for a second months subscription without even receiving any magazines. I asked for this to be cancelled. I was told it was too late and threatened that I had already authorised my card and they WILL charge it. The CS rep was RUDE and hung up the phone in my ears without even coming to a resolution. Please all stay away from GCR. They are the worst yet. These people shouldn't have your personal details. They are unscrupulous.

This is a discusting scam! I have received the Customer Right to Cancel form today and filled it out & mailed it back. I have read many complaints on your company as well. There is no $500.00 Walmart card that my "Sponcer Ashley" said was the reason for the call in the first place from doing a survey online.That's how they got my information & They are taking advantage of people in their time of need or just trying to earn some extra income from home. I am very discusted.
I'm changing my phone number as well. My bank has also been notified & they've already heard of them.....Go figure!

this is a real polished ripoff artist company. they use the verbal contract over the phone so that even if want to end the service they will not let which means they will sent it to a collection agency to collect. Verbal contracts in the law means I guess you surrender your right to change your mind. They say they give 7 days to end it but if you don't act right away (if you can reach them) they say it becomes binding.I don't think it is legal but you have to go to court to prove it is legal

Has anyone filed a report with the state attorney’s office? That would be the best thing to do and to definitely NOT worry about it. They will stay doing business under that name as long as they are not reported. After they are reported naturally they will go under a different name and just continue. Better yet seek them out in attempt to acquire employ with them and information gather.(We call it intelligence)

what do you know, your probably working for them. just because you like a good read. when you want it to stop and it comes directly out of your account, and not expected...it kinda pisses people off. plus they told us it was a one time charge...it wasn't and we were gonna get a laptop for it...never did.

Well no Andrew I’m not working for them. What’s with the hostility Andrew did I say something to upset you? I don’t know exactly how you people ordered this or got yourselves into this mess Andrew but if someone told you were going to get a laptop with a magazine subscription and you fell for that, well… as they say there’s one born every minutes. The original poster states he did not order any magazine at all and that’s what I’m basing my remarks on. So Andrew before you decide to get all boisterous with another poster look first at the other posts and see if your rant is justified. This time was a crash and burn for you. Better luck next time.

Well, I got swindled to renew my contract I was like no no no and they still signed my ass up.. And now I am paying till March 2011.. I paid all back fees cause they were on my Credit Report!! And they said I couldn't cancel cause of those terms!! So, just pay the buggers and get rid of the trash.. they send.. 5 magazines at a time pfft. I am lucky if I only get 1!! They won't even let you cancel out cause its pre paid out of their pocket..

You people are insane to be paying this company.

This isn't my first time and yeah they are snobs and rude on the phone. You don't get squat for signing on with them. Mine was a Sweepstakes deal.. and claimed it came from Capital One at the time when I had a Credit Card. That was my first time with them. The second time was a push like I said it fell into collections. And paid the F'ers back after being told that my account was paid in full. That is when they got me the second time.. Telling me I was still bound to a contract to pay again. I keep calling them to make sure I am done with them after the bill is paid in full. I told them to take my name and phone number off their lists so hopefully there will not be a round 3!! If I get a call from them they will be having an attorney involved since I have been told this time that I am done.. there is not going to be a round 3. They are sharks!! They like to swindle things. Draw you in.. With give aways and sweepstakes. I have an idea since part of it is a free gift and nothing really came of it and a verbal contract is still a contract..
