Anti-bullying measure offers hope for mother

This legislation is long overdue. Thank you to Ms. Johnston for her incredible fortitude. I am very sorry and send prayers to your family for your loss.

I agree 100% with the first post. It made me sick to my stomache when I read this story to think something like this could happen. Thank you Ms. Johnston for your effort to try to avoid this from happening to anyone else.

When I was a kid you took what was dished out and you grew upon it, Theses people are raising a horde whiny little chicken shits that run from their own shadows and they want new laws to protect them from any little thing they're afraid of.
I say I want a law against these people to protect the couple of rights and freedoms I have left.
And sorry but yes bullying has always been a part of growing up. It continues in your work place as people jockey for promotions, bonuses or raises.
I don’t know this woman but I’ll tell you right now, I do feel bad about her losing her child but it wasn’t really a bully’s fault, you will never in a million years get me to believe a child would take their own life because of some name calling on the internet.
Large family? Somebody had to know this was going on, and if I see any gloominess in my kids I’ll just whack it right out of them, depression is not allowed in my house.

I’d like to know why this mother wasn’t fighting for this prior to her Childs death. I guess other folks children just didn’t matter at the time. Now I’m no expert but it seems to me there must have been more disturbing this kid than this description:

How about the “Take a back seat to freedom act”, I got to hand it to you Ms. Johnston, you got what you wanted, and I just hope my kids are never in your classroom, especially after this quote from you:

These school policies are about as ridiculous as they could get, I thought, but we all have to remember how easy it is to brain wash Americans, so our kids? Hell forget it.

If this kid was a straight-A student, why does the state of Florida place him in the same classroom as some mentally retarded bully, as most of them are?

This is one of the biggest problems with public schools---they rarely expel sociopaths like these. If that was a private school, that bully would have been out the door faster than a bullet. Since public schools are the holding pens of last resort before dumping the sociopath where they belonged in the first place, juvenile detention hall, everyone else has to suffer. Look at that. The kid could have been working at Microsoft or Yahoo some day. Instead, he was put in a prison situation. I know what I would have done, but I remember my high school wanted to put me in juvenile detention hall for throwing the first punch.

Let's face it, state laws confuse and tie the hands of these teachers. Meanwhile, most are too middle class to build up any enthusiasm to straighten out these working class curs, often coming from religious schools where, again, this kind of behavior can lead to expulsion. If you get kicked out of one Catholic school, you can kiss a Catholic education goodbye. It's all one church. The states better learn sooner or later that some kids never grow a conscience, and probably never will.

Anyone who thinks touchy-feely "counseling" is gonna make the typical bully do anything other than INCREASE the heat he puts on his victim is just a fool, and someone who has never seen or dealt with a bully in her life.

You deal with a bully by teaching the victim to kick @s$. There is nothing else for it.

Have'nt you heard these kids actually like to go there because they can hang out, work out all day do nothing get something to eat for free, gets lots of sleep and guess who pays for that bill? Yup, every tax paying freakin' people of this state. Billions of dollars are wasted every year on these useless pieces of dog poop. I rather have the army take them in and send them to the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistanm so those that are there now and been there for quite sometime now can go home and live there normal life here. Young criminals would only change in time to a more season veteran criminal. Lets squash the guts of these sociopath's now while they are still young and dumb.

Now see, I don’t understand all this take the criminals and put a gun in their hands and send them to war. I certainly wouldn’t want to be surrounded by a shit load of derelicts while I was lumbering through a dessert town trying to keep my happy ass from getting shot off.
