Use of LSD must be on the rise at Forbes!
Job growth??? Wha!?? Cape Coral has been b***h-slapped every which way with foreclosures and a STAGNATE job market. Unless, of course, they're talking about all the wonderful opportunities flipping burgers and asking the all important question: "Paper or plastic?" Fortunately, real people can post the truth. |

I have been applying for jobs everywhere myself and nothing pans out. My bills have mostly all gone to collection. I never thought I'd see the day. I actually happened to come across a job as manager for McDonald's. The pay started at $7.10/hr and the majority of the shifts were overnight with no overtime. I'm pretty sure, with that pay, at the end of the week I would be further into debt. So, what do we do? What can all the hard working, tax-paying, natural born citizens do to keep their heads above water? I can normally do the work of several people, I'm very well educated, excellent at both verbal and written communications and I look damn good in a suit. This is simply unjust. What do we do?

OK, first let’s take a time-out and read the actual Forbes.com story, not the bastardized versions that abound on the ‘Net.
http://www.forbes.com/2008/04/10/best-cities-... Reading closely, you’ll find references to the fastest job growth over a FIVE-YEAR period that ENDED in 2006. Reading closer still, you’ll find reference to “As the housing market skidded, the fallout has been severe … Job growth slowed dramatically … in 2007.” And in a related sidebar … http://www.forbes.com/2008/04/10/best-cities-... … you’ll see Forbes.com shows “Cape Coral Metro area population” of 591,000. Obviously that’s the not the correct population (it was more like 150,000 at the time). The higher population number suggests that Forbes may have looking at the entire Cape Coral-Fort Myers Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the U.S. Census. THAT metro includes both those cities and MOST, if not all, of Lee County. So… putting it all in perspective, I would say, yes The Cape had phenomenal job growth over five years (5%+ annually), and that growth has hemorrhaged over the past, oh, 18 months or so. Your turn … |
They shouldn't label Cape Coral if they are including Ft. Myers with the total census. That's false. If they got their head out of their asses, they would have done their research and figured that there was no way 591k ppl are living in the cape let alone allowing severely outdated statistics to hit shelves 2 YEARS after they conducted their research. People don't need Forbes to tell them what to think of this place, but as a tool for knowledge about the area in potential moves and relocations, they'd be better off sticking to current statistics instead of labeling false hope in a place of dramatic recession. all yours... |

Yahoo money had Lee county {today] listed as the top ten places for grouth???
The next sentence addressed the terrible housing market!!! Which way is it?? |
